My husband and I, who aren't even that interested in cooking, had a fabulous time at the Zirita school. The people were delightful, the setting was fabulous, and the food was excellent. We got to choose to either help with the preparation or just watch, and we chose to watch. We learned a lot about the food of the Michoacan... More

I was in Morelia for a press trip (I am a travel writer) and the best moment was that day in la Zirita. First we went to that fantastic market with the chef Benedicta and her assistant Matteo (her grand son). Then we went to la Troje Zirita. As someone with little Spanish I was made to feel very welcome and every assistance was given to me. The day started with a tour of the market - here each ingredient... More

The director, Cynthia Martínez, makes certain that every class member is treated royally. From the fascinating tour of Morelia's traditional Mercado San Juan to the drive into the workshop grounds, I was astonished by... More

This cooking class is great because we cooked different traditional dishes from Michoacan, we actively participated. I love that most of these delicious recipies are vegetarian, so I could try almost everything! You definitly need to try "Mole de Queso, Col de Arbol and Atole de Zarzamora" The place is lovely, and the main Chef is so nice, she is... More
