After the crowds in Rome and Venice, it is such a delight to spend some time in peaceful Toffia. Sally and Giudo couldn't have been more helpful as we made our arrangements to come to Toffia and our time in the little village was delightful. The food we cooked and ate was great and I am still using Guido's recipes!... More

We came across reviews for Convivio's one-day cooking holiday after finding most similar things in Rome either fully booked or not functioning because of the Christmas season. The reviews were good (basically Convivio is Guido the chef and his wife Sally the manager and tour guide), and I wanted to treat my mother to a nice Christmas gift, so I... More

It only takes 40 minutes by direct train from Rome to get to Toffia, an enchanting medieval hilltop village just north of Rome set amongst rolling hills and olive groves. This is where our Italian Cooking Class was held. Guido (a 7th generation Roman with perfect spoken English) and Sally (originally from Sydney, Australia), who run Convivio Rome, welcomed us... More

Food is so central to Italian culture that attending a cooking class and learning some insight about cooking Italian food in an Italian home really was the capstone of our trip. Getting there was an easy and inexpensive train ride from Rome. We were lucky enough to be the only two participants, so it felt like we were getting a... More

After 7 weeks traveling in europe, what a great way to unwind before returning home. Sally & Guido made us feel welcome in a relaxed & inviting atmosphere. My husband & I did the 1 day cooking course, which we both enjoyed. We came home feeling more confident in cooking Italian food. We stayed in Toffia for 2 nights in... More

We spent 6 beautiful days in Toffia in October 2011. The cooking classes were relaxed, informative and very hands on.Each day we created delicious wholesome meals and then we all sat down to enjoy them in the caverna - encapsulating the atmosphere of the ancient house where Guido and his family live. Guido is very passionate about self sustainability and the... More

One would not expect to visit a cooking school anywhere in Europe and discuss Jimi Hendrix with the chef. When this happens in a 500 year old house located in a small village outside of Rome it’s even more unexpected. Imagine listening to Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker and John Coltrane as you learn from Chef Guido how to mix,... More

Dear donnieandmarie, I always thought that good food and good music go very well together. We usually listen to some background Italian jazz during our cooking lessons, but I was glad to here you liked blues music as well. It was a pleasure to music that we both have a passion for, from jazzy Coltrane to bluesy Hendrix, while having... More

We recently returned from a pretty quick visit - one week - in Rome. Before going we knew we wanted to do a cooking lesson that we could bring our 10 year old daughter along to. We could not be more pleased with our choice. (And trust me - there are a dizzying amount of choices out there for cooking... More

I normally don't review the things I do here in Italy as I've been living here the past 3 years. However, this time I could not help doing it. It was that good! My Partner and I had a wonderful day with Sally and Guido in their home in the italian countryside village of Toffia preparing a 3 course meal... More

I have just returned from a 4 week trip to Italy. As part of my planning last year I came across an article in the Sydney Morning Herald for the cooking school. One year later to that weekend I was in the hillside town of Toffia for my weekend cooking adventure. Along with 2 friends we travelled to Fare Sabina... More
