I took a rafting trip with my partner from Arenal to Puerto Viejo on the Pacuare River (3h from Arenal, 2h of rafting, 40 min of lunch, 45 of rafting, then 2-3h to get to PV). At 99$ bucks a head, I was expecting an awesome rafting ride with loads of information on the Pacuare River. Instead, I was left... More

I was underwhelmed by the Exploradores Paquare all-day San Jose to La Fortuna rafting transfer tour. The van arrived 30m late due to getting lost repeatedly in searching for the hotel, despite explicit instructions in advance from the hotel, and two phone calls to the hotel manager the morning of in San Jose. The trip to the river was long--several... More

This was my second visit to Rio Pacuare in Costa Rica. You gotta do it. It is so much fun and the beauty is indescribable, so I won't even bother. Just do it! The rapids can be intense, but that's what makes it fun. Be prepared for a workout-especially if you sit in the front! Exploradores is fantastic. The guides... More

We did the three night, two day package which included a trip to Tortuguero where we saw lots of wildlife and also got to see the turtles nesting on the beach (extra cost of $35 but well worth it). We stayed at La Baula Lodge which was a great base as we were constantly on the move exploring Tortuguero as... More

So it rained while we were in CR, like, a lot. We had an awesome rafting excursion scheduled, but was hampered by the weather. Heavy rains increased the rivers to non-commercial levels and were too dangerous for us to run. As a consolation, our friendly guides explained the situation, expressed safety first, then took our 6-8 boats and put us... More

My husband and I also came back for more! One time down the river was not enough. Exploradores has a professional, well trained staff that emphasizes safety and fun. We highly recommend a trip down the Pacuare River. It is beautiful, wild, physical and fun. Maricio was our guide and I thank him for a memorable trip. PURA VIDA!

We are very disappointed with this company. We have done class 3 rapids twice before and decided to go with this company to experience more intense rapids (class 3-5). We were picked up in the morning at our hotel in Cahuita and after eating breakfast we waited for a very long time before we headed to the river. On the... More

I did the Rio Pacuare rafting with Exploradores twice! It was that good. The first time I went by myself and once again when my husband arrived. They picked me/us up promptly at my Spanish language school in San Pedro. At the end of the day, they dropped me off at Puerto Viejo and us off at La Fortuna/Arenal. It... More

We had made arrangements to raft the Río Pacuare with Exploradores Outdoors on July 13th. I had e-mailed the company to inquire about a reservation the previous week. They said they had spots for rafting on that day. I gave them the name of our hostel in Turrialba over e-mail, and they said they would pick us up at 9:15... More

My family and I are no stranger to rafting. We've done Colorado, Pennsylvania and New York and also the paquare in the remote past. Manuel was a great guide. The river was beautiful. Didn't really notice much class 4s but a great time nonetheless. Highly recommend
