We reserved a rental car for Dollar Rental to be picked up at the Cabo's Airport upon our arrival. We declined the insurance as our credit card has the coverage. We were then told that there is a mandatory Mexican government insurance requirement and the total would be $593 USD for the 5 days. We were assured there would be... More

Went to pick up my prepaid car rental from the airport and was told the amount I prepaid was just for the website that did the reservation. I still had to pay them the full rental amount of almost 500 dollars for one week. The company I prepaid did not refund me because they said it was a canceled reservation... More

We stopped at the beautiful port of Cabo San Lucas on a sunny Sunday and the place was rocking. The many restaurants that line the promenade were full of patrons drinking the local beer, tequilas and enjoying the music and wonderful ambience. The Tourist centre provided maps and an endless list of activities and enjoyments. We took a ride around... More

I'm beginning to see a trend with many of the car rental agencies in MX. Like many others, Fox is trying to rip us off for $400+. When we rented the vehicle via Expedia, the cost was $142 for our trip. When we arrived, they said we had to have at least liability insurance. I told them that I had... More

We made a reservation with Dollar in the USA and even called to check on the price. We were told by a Dollar representative that there was no additional mandatory insurance required. We asked her several times if our reservation price would be the charged amount. She assured us the price would not change. We also called our credit card... More

It's really odd - how you're shown some scribbled numbers on scratch paper for insurance rates. I've driven across the border and brought Mexican insurance. These rates were incredibly high. But what do you do - they have got you by the throat. I rode back to the airport with another couple who had the same experience and complaint. Upon... More

We have just returned from Cabo San Lucas week of May 11-18. We purchased insurance for rental cars through our American Express Platinum card which guaranteed that for $19.95 per rental, insurance in Mexico was covered. We arrived at the Thrifty counter, showed them the insurance policy and were told that it did not cover personal liability which was required... More

I prepaid for a rental car with Dollar in San Antonio last week. Our flight there was very late, getting in at 2 am. When we found out we would be so late, I called the 800 number who told me the rental desk was closed at midnight. I called the number that is listed on my "voucher" as desk... More

Located at the southern tip of Baja California, “Cabo” is a fishing village turned roughly into a beach resort town mainly for the enjoyment of west coast Americans, it appears. It is Mexico Light for Gringos. Judging from the amazing spread of recently constructed housing there must be a middle class here of sorts but we didn’t see much evidence... More
