Now you get to experience the thrill in the driver’s seat! In the heart of the untamed Baja peninsula you get to drive in the safety of our custom built race cars, always within radio-shot of our experienced guides and the professional support crew of Wide Open Excursions! The closed course track is just outside Cabo San Lucas. Wide Open Cabo’s Baja Challenge (BC) racecars are not “dune buggies” or “sand rails”; they are the same cars that race in the Baja 1000. With Wide Open Adventures you will experience the thrill of racing in the Baja 1000. You will slide around sandy berms, view scenic trails, capture the true beauty of the Baja peninsula while safely strapped into a suspended racing seat by a 5-point safety harness system. Wide Open Cabo’s racecars are powered by 4 cylinder 2 liter engines that provide almost 200 hp. They are outfitted with off-road racing suspension and shock absorbers that provide 18” of suspension travel. We run exclusively on BF Goodrich All Terrain TA and Mud Terrain TA Tires. Each car is equipped with a 2 way radio system, internal intercom system, global positioning system, and fresh air filter. For as little as $395.00 USD, plus tax, you can strap yourself in one of our purpose built off-road race cars. Our staff will explain the safety precautions and provide you with some tips on how to handle these thrilling desert machines before tackling our off-road course. Three options are available, and while none of them require previous off-road experience, these cars have manual transaxles so experience in driving a standard shift vehicle is helpful.

I love to do a lot of stuff. Surf, snowboard, skydive. And this was by far one of the best things I have ever done. The staff was amazing! Getting to drive one of these cars was truly an experience like no other. It makes those Razor things look like a three wheeled golf cart. Totally worth the $$

This tour company is top notch. I did the 1/3 tour during a recent trip to Cabo. One of the best times I've ever had in a car. Equipment is excellent. Staff is very kind and helpful. It's well worth the money. I highly recommend them and the experience. Simply amazing.

This was the highlight for my husband as he was kind of racing guy who enjoyed the thrill and adventure. Everything went perfectly - from pick up at our hotel to spending half day at their private ranch/track to hanging out with the friendly staff during break. It was very fun to see an actual Classic 10 Baja 1000 Race... More

Driving with Wide Open was one of the main reasons why my husband and I came to Baja for our first anniversary, and it was totally worth it! We did a half day with laps on their track and it was as enjoyable as all the other reviewers said. We talked a lot about which experience we wanted to do,... More

My dad and I took the full day trip through the desert and it was (as racing amateurs) one of the best driving experiences so far. Even though we weren't able to make it to hotel California because one of the guide cars' transmission went, the staff extended our driving time through the desert and gave us a simple bu... More

If you want to have a true Baja-racing experience, this is for you. First, the cars are actual Class 10 Baja cars. They are very well maintained and the staff that travels with you are first class and able to fix problems that happen on the road. Second, you will be able to actually drive the car at high speed.... More

This was a thrilling ride for both the driver and navigator. Darrin was safe and professional, and let us drive to our limits. Great lunch in Todos Santos, and the highlight of our trip to the Baja. We are already planning a return for the 3-day excursion!

I too wanted to mark off a "Must Do" on the Bucket list, but after the 1 day trip from Cabo to Todos Santos I have now added the multi day trip to be done within 2 years. If you enjoy excitement, fast driving, sight seeing and experiencing all of the great things to enjoy in Mexico " off of... More

During our trip to Baja, I surprised my boyfriend with a 1/2 day trip. It was an absolute blast! Despite the incredible things we did throughout our vacation, I feel like the drive was his absolute favorite. This is the real deal! I did not heed the warnings in the other reviews that the 1/2 day is just not enough...they... More

I had the best time ever with my husband during our Wide Open tour in Cabo. We took a half-day tour, lunch was included as well as cold bottled waters at each stop but it wasn't enough, we'll be back for more!
