This was not only our favorite excursion while visiting San Miguel de Allende-it ranks as one of our all time favorite family adventures! We had two adults and two teens aged 16 and 17. Tomas was amazing and 100% responsive to our inquiries. Leo picked us up promptly at 9:00 a.m. the Saturday of Easter weekend and entertained us thoroughly... More

My six year old daughter had been on a horse all of one time before this. She rode for three hours and enjoyed every minute of it. My four year old rode part of the time on her own horse and partly with me. She loved riding through the creek. My husband was nervous about the girls riding on their... More

Since it was my first time riding horses I was a little bit scared, but Tomas and Felix made me feel confident about the riding. The sightseeing is wonderful and the food an the end of the ride prepared by their families is rural ranch style and just great. My kids were happy and enjoyed the experience.

My sister and I had an amazing time with our five children ages ten thru fourteen. Thomas, Felix and the entire Morin Ruiz family showed us what a real working ranch was all about. In the morning we milked a cow that helped to make the cheese we eventually ate later that afternoon. In between our tour of Rancho Xotolar... More

Excellent personal attention! It was just the 2 of us with 2 guides through the wilderness and beautiful scenery of SMA Xotolar ranch, about 40 min away from SMA. Our tour took us through the same route as Roberto, and his family, used to travel when going to school every day. 1.5 hour trip for them. We learned the basics,... More

My husband and I had THE most enjoyable time riding with Tomas and the other two guides. Tomas picked us up at our hotel and drove us to his working ranch, identifying points of interest along the way. The horses were in wonderful shape, extremely sure footed, calm and very willing. Although we are experienced riders, Tomas made sure to... More

This was such a great addition to our trip. We booked with Tomas which was quick and easy. Leon picked us up at our hotel right on time. He could not have been more friendly and graciously explained everything we were seeing and doing for us, from the wildlife to the city history. Felix, his son, and Leon took us... More

I agree and endorse all of the reviews that rate the Rancho Xotolar as "excellent." If you want a personal, up close experience of the countryside just outside San Miguel, then this is for you. Tomas and his family made us feel so welcome -- introducing us to his 94-year-old mother -- showing us how they make their cheese, and... More

What a great experience! Enables you to see the beautiful countryside and meet a great family. I am a 23 year old girl with barely any riding experience and went alone - felt 100% safe and comfortable the entire time. They taught me how to ride and even gallop through the river in the canyon! The ranch was beautiful, Tomas... More

Tomas and his family were wonderful hosts at their working ranch near SMA. He picked us up in San Miguel and offered lots of information about the area during the drive. I am not a horsewoman but with his instruction and the patient, sure-footed horses I was fine. Very tasty meal and cervezas after the ride. Highly recommend!
