What a great experience. Wanted to take my guests on a horseback riding adventure while visiting SMA. In total 15 people (10 children ages ranging from 5 to 12). Tomas and his team were amazing guides. They helped the kids navigate the horses as most of us were first time riders. The scenery was amazing. I never thought the kids... More

Tomas picked me up and took me and two others out to his rancho where we saw a cow being milked and learned how the Mexican cheese is made. Then we had a wonderful 3 hour ride with several opportunities to canter. Tomas and his staff took very good care of the riders and made sure everyone was safe and... More

Besides my "Cooking Class with Paco", the day spent in the company of Tomas and his family on the ranch and in the wilds around Xotolar was just the best part of visiting San Miguel. It is hard to put into words the palpable warmth that comes from Tomas from the minute that he picks you up in his car... More

The ride was beautiful, fun both for the experienced riders and the beginners. The ride was only part of the experience, though. This is a working farm, and Tomas (the owner) shared lots of interesting information about the area and the workings of the farm/ranch. The views in this area are beautiful enough from a car, but breathtaking from horseback... More

Tomas and Felix are fantastic! They picked us up from San Miguel de Allende and drove us to the ranch. The ranch is just as you would imagine, rustic, beautiful, dusty, and authentic! The sights, smells, and sounds made me feel like I was in a western movie! The family made us feel very welcomed and showed us how to... More

This was a highlight of our trip - The guides Tomás and Felix were so generous and informative about their working ranch. We rode beautiful, kind horses that a novice rider can handle. The wide open ranch has stunning scenery. The family knows the complete history of the area. We learned about ranching, farming and culture. Our meal prepared by... More

One of the best parts of our vacation in Mexico was the morning spent walking the range with Tomaz at Xotolar Ranch. We learned about the history of the area and the ranch, saw some amazingly wide views, learned about plants and animals that live in this semi-arid region and about the challenges of farming here. Lunch was simple but... More

San Miguel de Allende is an amazing place. My wife and I enjoyed every minute we spent in town, strolling the cobblestone streets, exploring galleries, restaurants and cafes, and soaking up the culture. But our vacation would've been sadly incomplete had we missed the experience at Rancho Xotolar, a true working ranch in the beautiful Mexican countryside. Tomas and the... More

My family of six had a blast on this trip! The whole experience from start to finish was pretty much the highlight of our kids month long visit to SMA. I'm a 'nervous nelly' around horses, but the horse I spent almost three hours on was an absolute angel. I felt 100% safe the entire time, we were never left... More
