Wow, what an experience! Riding through ravines, up an down steep slopes, zig-zag in canter through the woods, through water, cow herds... All of that in front of an incredible vista and with Thomas and his friendly family. The most amazing thing was: the whole time we felt completely safe. The horses are incredibly sure-footed and calm. One of us... More

Enjoyed the experience immensely-both the scenery and horseback riding. I had never really ridden a horse before and they tailored the ride according to my comfort -starting slow and then progressing to a run through the river. I left my camera behind and they delivered it to the house the next morning leaving me thinking - how nice is that.

This was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. I took this trip with my Mother, and we were fortunate enough to have Thomas, Felix, and Roberto as our warm, hospitable guides. They took us riding through valleys, rivers, and up mountain sides (with spectacular views of San Miguel and the surrounding areas). We finished our trip with... More

Lovely people, beautiful horses and stunning scenery. My guides were knowledgable and entertaining, they even sang as we rode down the canyon, across water, and up the other side. Loved it.

This was by far one of the best experiences that my boyfriend and I have ever had. Spanning over several hours there was not a dull moment. The families ranch is gorgeous with ledges, cliffs, gorges and vegetation, we were even given the opportunity to sample some of the cactus fruit on our rides. My boyfriend and I are both... More

When our grandchildren come to visit us in San Miguel, their vacation would not be complete without a trip to Rancho Xotolar. Tomas and his wonderful extended family create a truly memorable experience -- riding down into a canyon and along a riverbed past farms and tiny villages and then the climb back up to the ranch house where a... We knew it would be an adventure - but couldn't have prepared ourselves for the natural beauty, the amazing cliffs and vistas. The owners take you throughout their 1200 acre ranch. Great lunch at the end of the ride and all the food is grown and produced on the ranch. A true Mexican adventure! We took our grandkids - one... More

This was our favorite activity in San Miguel. Our 10 and 7 year old kids cannot wait to do it again. The countryside was amazing. It is not like any tour we have been on. Truly authentic including a traditional Mexican lunch, which was excellent. Thomas and the rest of cowboys could not have been more helpful. Come prepared with... More

This is not your typical horseback riding experience … what makes it unique and special is that Tomas and family welcome you into their home and onto their expansive ranch as if you were part of their family. The deep rooted Mexican traditions and culture that have been cultivated for generations on Xotolar Ranch come through in every detail of... More

Brothers Tomas and Felix share their love of their ranch, horses and amazing scenery with all who ride with them. They have many guides accompanying each group many of whom speak English. They are wonderful with all ages and will give you the best experience possible. The kids favorite part is cantering down the river! When your ride is complete... More
