What visitors to Sazon find today is a version (perhaps a bit austere and commercial-feeling) of what Teresa Jones created well over 10 years ago. Her initiative and foresight to highlight Mexican artisans who create beautiful ceramics and other utensils for the table, the kitchen and the home and to present them in a beautifully crafted tasteful environment which highlights... Chef Tono and Chef Ruben were great instructors and taught both classes I attended. The market tour class was great and we were able to taste many local fruits and street food. My favorite was the tamales! My second class: we made chicken mole and rice, guacamole and roasted tomato salsa. All very delicious. I enjoyed the classes very much!

This was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it! The cooks were engaging and friendly. They involved the participants in the preparation and shared recipes and email addresses in case we needed extra instruction once we got home. It was also fun to do this in a group. It felt like a party! Thank you Reuben!

Four of us had a terrific time touring the local mercado and cooking with Chef Ruben Yanez. His class was interesting and fun. The food was superb, from quesadillas made with huitlacoche to a wonderful talipia made Veracruz style and yummy mango sorbet for dessert. Such a fun day! I would recommend the market tour and middle-of-the-day meal. It's totally... More

We took the market tour/cooking class and Ruben was our teacher. It was great. We made the most delicious meal and I feel like I learned some of the secrets of wonderful Mexican Cooking. Ruben was a great teacher, patient and kind. We also met some really nice folks from all over who took the class with us. I can't... More

Three of us took the Tuesday Market Tour and Class at Sazon Cooking School, and we all really enjoyed the experience. Young chef Ruben Yanez (for some reason, all the women seemed to like him) first led us on a tour of the market. Anything you wanted to taste, Ruben would buy and slice for tasting. He also would explain... More

the chef walked us to the market to pick up ingredients. This lesson was on traditional mexican dishes and it was hands on if you liked but not necessary.
