Three of us took the Tuesday Market Tour and Class at Sazon Cooking School, and we all really enjoyed the experience. Young chef Ruben Yanez (for some reason, all the women seemed to like him) first led us on a tour of the market. Anything you wanted to taste, Ruben would buy and slice for tasting. He also would explain... More

the chef walked us to the market to pick up ingredients. This lesson was on traditional mexican dishes and it was hands on if you liked but not necessary.

Ruben was our instructor and he was fantastic! He was friendly and patient with all of us. He took us through the market (which definitely required a guide to find the good stalls) and explained local customs. We shopped for ingredients for the class while taste testing local cheeses, corns, cactus, and tacos. After our market tour we hit the... More

Our instructor is the pasty chef at Belmond Sierra Nevada Hotel. Did a nice tour (with multiple tastings) at the market and then came back to Sazon building to cook a lunch (using some of the ingredients we purchased at the market). Only disappointment was that one of the three items we made was guacamole (we were hoping for something... More

Our 3 hour class was hands on and we prepared pico de gallo, arrroz blanco, red snapper Veracruz style, and apple empanadas. Menus vary week to week, we were told, depending on the fresh ingredients available. Chef Ruben Yanez made the class very enjoyable and the dishes were outstanding. Water, beer and Hibiscus tea were also offered with our meals.

This class was very fun and informative. Enjoyed the tour of the market, meeting the vendors and learning to cook with the varied ingredients.

My wife and I with two friends recently participated in a very enjoyable cooking class at Sazon in San Miguel de Allende. The "instructor" was chef Alejandro Rodriguez from the Aldonza Restaurant (Belmond) and he made the class a very memorable and fun experience. First, we all walked together to the huge covered mercado to taste, select, and buy the... More
