This is a municipal museum which tells the story of the city and its most famous person. At Easter - one of the devotions to Mary is there - it is quite beautiful. The history is laid out in a very well organized fashion and there is an attached book shop.

This small museum had a great deal of information about the Mexican war of independence and life in that time period. Its conveniently located and is free on Sundays to everyone except for foreign visitors. So if you visit on Sunday, you may have free admission and you may have more crowds.

Great museum on history (mostly on the War of Independence of 1810, Miguel Allende's role in the war and his family history) is written in Spanish and English. Rooms of period furniture and way of life at that time. Sunday is free admission!

San Miguel is at the center of the 1810 revolution and has always been a town whose influence exceeds its size. This museum tells the stories well.

I really enjoyed this place. It had so much history about Mexico that I wasn't overly familiar with, but it was done in such an interesting way. This was a must-see place for me!

I love many Mexican cities and beach communities, but San Miguel de Allende has a very special charm. There's a wonderful, open spirit which makes locals, tourists and art college attendees Instituto Allende, Bellas Artes and one new school happier and friendlier Anyone can attend these schools for instruction in art and even Spanish. The narrow streets with their awesome... More

We spent a good hour and a half in this lovely colonial building and learned a great deal about the history of the town and one of the heroes of the Revolution. Although not all of the displays are in English, my husband, who speaks no Spanish, found it equally captivating.
