The museum is right next to the main parrochia on the Jardin Principal. It is well organized and beautiful. The museum has contributions from the major museums of Mexico and has information in Spanish and English. The upstairs shows how it might have been furnished for the family and the downstairs provides historical information for different centuries, plus the hacienda... More

This museum is actually the two story home of Allende with a number of small rooms around a courtyard. The ground floor displays are mainly posters in Spanish and English describing the history of San Miguel, with a few photos. The top floor has rooms furnished with items from the colonial period. This is a rather basic museum and can... More

Don't miss the introductory film which is in Spanish but pretty accessible to English speakers. The rooms on the ground floor are arranged by century. The information is very informative and the displays are very interesting. Upstairs there are rooms furnished as they might have been in the period of the Allende family. All is done very well and it... More

The Municipal Museum of San Miguel Until we visited this municipal museum just opposite the Cathedral, we had no idea that San Miguel de Allende played a key role in the history of Mexico and the Mexican Revolution. Housed in the stunningly beautiful former hacienda of Ignatius Allende, the well-designed displays and objects are accompanied by fulsome explanations in both... More

This is a municipal museum which tells the story of the city and its most famous person. At Easter - one of the devotions to Mary is there - it is quite beautiful. The history is laid out in a very well organized fashion and there is an attached book shop.

This small museum had a great deal of information about the Mexican war of independence and life in that time period. Its conveniently located and is free on Sundays to everyone except for foreign visitors. So if you visit on Sunday, you may have free admission and you may have more crowds.

Great museum on history (mostly on the War of Independence of 1810, Miguel Allende's role in the war and his family history) is written in Spanish and English. Rooms of period furniture and way of life at that time. Sunday is free admission!
