The Biblioteca is not funded by the city nor the state. It subsides on donations alone. It has a huge book holdings, but most of all it offers free English lessons to school children each day after school. Many tours originate here and while waiting we sat in a lovely courtyard while mariachis played.

Spend time in the library, attend lectures, concerts, films, plays, eat in restaurant, browse in the tienda where books and things made by San Miguel artists can be found. Best meeting place in the city

Lectures, music, movies, books, language lessons, tours, charitable work, events newspaper...on and on. A dedicated staff and volunteers keep this active spot buzzing. I love every aspect of this gift to the community. Try the amazing $100 MP, multiple course, daily restaurant special.

Oh, dear. Yes, this is a charity, of sorts, but the House and Garden Tour on Sunday afternoons is a very misleading experience. There were about 150 eager and naive Americans on what turned out to be a tour of open houses, as in, houses for sale. To top it off, they were way out of town and not particularly... More

The Biblioteca really is the heart and soul. It is here that Mexicans and foreigners (mostly Canadian and American) really meet. There is a cafe with a large selection of Spanish and English books (I am told the largest in Central America). It has a wonderful little cafe with lunch specials every day. There are lecture rooms , decorated with murals... More

Impressive range of services and things to do. THE central meeting place for tourists and locals. The courtyard is a great place to rest weary feet and the cafe serves a wide range of snacks and drinks. A wide range of entertainment is offered during the week in the theater and smaller venues. The gift shop offers a variety of... More

The is the place to go in San Miguel de Allende for interesting lectures, to pick up tickets for tours, for very good lunches in the cafe and a convenient place to meet friends. I'm told it's also a library, but we never did try that function.

Books, great little cafe, films, plays, the house and garden tour on Sundays. There's always something to do at the library. Many of the events are also fundraisers for the local children, so there are programs for them, as well as many activities for the large number of expats in the city. The house and garden tour is especially interesting,... More
