The Library is truly a community service, with books of course, but also exhibitions, House Tour start on Sundays, a nice cafe for breakfast or lunch, a theatre for movies, comedy, plays and improv. Also have a shop -- you can purchase the weekly bi-lingual newspaper La Atencion - there as well.

the center of the ex-pats life. We went to a wonderful concert. Saw the beautiful murals of David Leonardo and signed up for the House and Garden Tour and one to La Canada

If you are spending any time in SMA, this is the place to visit. Besides having books to lend in both Spanish and English, it's a great place to meet people, and become a volunteer-get involved in so many great activities. Don't miss it!

One of the hardest things to do when visiting a new place is to get beyond the tourist façade and see the real deal. The Biblioteca Pública is a wonderful resource to see and meet the real San Miguel. Two excellent resources, only available through the Biblioteca are; Conversación con Amigos and the House and Garden Tour. The first pairs... More

As a frequent visitor to Mexico, I usually shy away from places that cater to Americans. This place is an exception because it is absolutely committed to the community, both foreign and native. The coffee shop / restaurant, Santa Ana is so friendly and offers good menu selections. The gift shop / book shop also has a nice variety of... More

A must if you visit San Miguel they have the weekly Atencion which is great for visitors and opportunities for numerous cultural experience. Not to mention you could probably spend a whole week studying the fascinating mural and still not be a third of the way through.

As a librarian, I make a habit of visiting libraries when traveling. Not only do they offer free wi-fi and a place to relax, but they give the visitor a real taste of the local culture. This one goes at the top of the list with the famous libraries of Copenhagen. Walking in there's a courtyard surrounded by rooms with... More

This was very interesting to wander around. Beautiful painted ceiling. You can get English language news papers and books. They have a wonderful charity that supports children in being able to go to school. Very worthwhile.
