Three generations of family visiting so this was a good option for all. Everyone had something to eat or drink. Prices reasonable and delivered by pleasant wait staff. Drinks poolside while food in picnic area. Squirrel takes tortilla chips right from your hands. Man made grotto very hot then pools get cooler. Waterfalls only early morning. About 140 peso taxi... Went here with the whole family. The location has lots of greenery (palm trees, plants, flowers and grassy area), which makes this place very relaxing. The water was warm which is caused by the thermal water, I didn't give this an excellent review because it only has a three pools. The last pool has a tunnel which takes you to... More

There were many firsts on my trip to San Miguel de Allende and La Gruta was one of the top experiences. Having never experienced a hot spring before I had no idea what to expect. I was with a group and we were easily accomodated. We also visited La Gruta during the week when there were no crowds. The outside... More

We took a cab to La Gruta and arranged for the taxi to pick us back up (and he was there waiting)... not all the pools were open the day we went. There were only two outdoor pools and the main pool where they release the water. It was a comfortable, and varied group (families with childen, gay couples, friends.)... More

The place was smaller then I expected, and 2 for 1 Friday brings in a crowd. The largest pool was closed, and only open on weekends. I can not imagine any more people crowded into the smaller pools then were present on the Friday that we visited. Some of the pools were filled with small children and mothers. Many infants... More

Loved this place. The water in the grotto is warm with a great waterfall for a good back massage. Plentiful chairs, nice touch to be able to order lunch from the waiters at the pool. If I return to San Miguel we will definitely go there again. Preferred it to Escondido place

My partner an I (27 and 28) went to la gruta after spending the mandatory few days within San Miguel being awestruck by the streets, food, amazing people and churches. We went on an overcast day which turned out to be the perfect temperature to visit la gruta. Getting to/from: We took the cab option leaving San Miguel at 1pm.... More

Came here on a Monday after getting the Dolores Hidalgo bus from San Miguel and being dropped off at Cortijo. Then just a 5 min walk away. Was annoyed that we weren't allowed to take our drinks in (Gatorade to help relieve the hangover). Anyway, lockers were too small for our backpack so we had to take this to the... More

It is a beautiful, magic place. The grounds are heavily planted and landscaped. There are a few pools of varying temperatures. But, the piece de resistance is the large geodesic dome where the hot spring comes out of a pipe (approx. 6 inch diameter) from about 10 feet high with strong flow. People line up to stand under the pipe... More
