We love La Gruta! It has a beautiful garden, decent little restaurant, and a number of pools filled with mineral water of varying degrees of heat. The best is the cave which is the hottest and has a spout of hot water emerging from the rock. This only happens at certain times but it's like having a full body massage... More

La Gruta is a natural hot springs just a short drive out of San Miguel and well worth the trip. If you're a hot springs enthusiast like me, this is the place for you. There are multiple 'baths' varying in temperature, along with a special enclosed grotto to sooth your aching bones. Lockers are available to safely store your clothes... More

We took a taxi from SMA. It was only about 30 minutes. The hotel rang one for us. We went early (10am) so it was quiet and shaded. We apparently missed the dramatic morning cascades where the pools are refilled. Each pool gets hotter as you progress to the tunnel that leads to the covered gruta. There are lockers. And... More

I think La Gruta is the best of all the hot water springs in the area, but I still feel like I'm swimming through human germs to get into the cave where the water fall is located, there are things floating in the water trail to get there, but those things could be natural minerals rather than other gross stuff... The Gruta in Antontolnico is an older spa like retreat a short drive from San Miguel de Allende. Hot springs rising the the grotto are captured in a series of soaking pools. There are separate pools for todldlers and teens, spacious flower-filled gardens, restaurants and bars. Full spa services are available as are food and beverages pool-side. A great way... More

We visited on a very quiet mid-week day. The pools were inviting the 'gruta' grotto warm and relaxing. Very different from the town visits.

During the week thi is a valuable place to check out. But, don't expect "hot". The pools are warm. The best thing for me was meeting so many others people looking to relax. The Mexican people I met here wanted to try to communicate as long as I was willing, which I was and had so much fun, talking, making... More

We had a fine visit after our bike ride with bici burro... the facility is very clean... the waters hot... and the design of the pools interesting and engaging. We also had a reasonably priced and tasty lunch of fajitas
