Great murals and view

We visited the institute several times, first for the murals and then for the arts and crafts show. If you go out the back you get a great view of the church.

I'm not sure how Trippet visor figured out that I went to the Instituto but they are clever. We had a marvelous dinner there and Gil a local favorite that has a ranch festival every Sunday afternoon at Zagundo played the whole evening. Absolutely amazing guitars violin percussion and vocals. Out on the terrace the views of the parochial are... More

I am taking a clay class I just walked in and they worked around my 2 weeks time here in San Miguel. The instructor is knowledgeable and is helping the 6 students do a variety of projects.

Clowns, jokers, masks, dark, light, what the festival of the dead, an annual event, is all about and worth the effort to find it.

Check when the artisan market is held. Very reasonable prices and very many vendors of beautiful quality crafts and art. We also took spanish classes here which were fabulous and by the end of 5 days I could understand and had words for a lot more than when I started. . . . of course, all in the present tense!... Since I'm a wedding photographer I've worked at this beautiful college several times - it's an old hacienda turned into a Spanish school. It offers beautiful gardens and a great restaurant. I love this place for relaxing, reading or hanging with friends plus it has a perfect view of the cathedral !!! Salad !!

Many things to do here beside study language - galleries, exhibits, a good place for lunch and Mi Casa for dinner. Mi Case isn't open every night so check the schedule. The half owner, Gil Gutierrez, is a world famous guitarist and the music is splendid. Ask Gil about Zandunga, the country place he and his wife own. Concerts every... More

Instituto Allende is housed in a large building with a stone facade perhaps a 10 minute walk from the center of town. To get there, it's a charming walk along cobbled streets. Art classes are ongoing and the students are representative of many cultures and walks of life. There's not too much to see as a casual visitor there unless... More

Instituto Allende is not only a learning center but also a focal point for many community activities and a commercial space for artists and small vendors of all sorts. They frequently hold art fairs there. Purchasing items from their constituents is a great way to support artists for whom a storefront or studio is not practical. Their art is just... More

It's worth a stop for sure. A beautiful building with great afrescos and a good coffee place. Shaded courtyard, a good place to stop by mid-afternoon for refreshments. Only a few galleries, but if you have time, I recommend a visit to Instituto Allende.
