We were so inspired by the beauty of this cathedral that my husband of 21 years and I decided to renew our vows while visiting.

There is a reason the Parroquia is an icon. It is classic architecture. The Jardin that it faces represents a commons for the city, a place where all come together reqardless of nationality, age or economic status. This is the place to sit and relax in San Miguel and people-watch. Perhaps get a shoe shine. If you don't have one,... More

Where else but in "the land of color" would you find a church that is the color of a wonderfully cooked piece of Salmon? Only in Mexico, and only in San Miguel de Allende, a community made up of colorful people, both native and foreign. This church is the focal point of San Miguel, the place where everything happens, the... More

I frequent this restaurant as I live in San Miguel and go mostly for breakfast. The coffee is very good and free flowing and the food is very good. Dinners are also good. In the evening, the front section becomes La Brasserie restaurant and is also very good. Service is excellent at the Parroquia is excellent. You can't go wrong

Surrounded by a posh plaza with well-manicured hedges, this church is an architectural wonder. The plaza itself is filled with mariachis playing, vendors selling artesanal crafts and plenty of dining options. Check out my blog eslventures.com to read more about my travels in Mexico.

If you are in San Miguel you must see this cathedral. It is spectacular - sunrise, sunset, middle of the day or night. It's beautiful. At night it's all lit up and you can see it from all over town. The light hits it just right several times a day and it always looks just a little different. The inside... More

We attended a wedding there, it was so very charming. If you can sit by and watch the pre wedding dance and the celebration with the large bride and groom "mono's" (dolls)

This cathedral is stunning. It's neo-gothic architecture makes you feel like you're in Europe, not Mexico. The thing to do here is arrive about an hour before sunset, find a place to sit on one of the many comfortable park benches fronting the cathedral, and just enjoy people watching while the sun sets, illuminating the cathedral in such lovely light.... My favorite thing is seeing this church from the outside around sunset. It changes different hues depending on the light. It gets real pink. It's also really cool to see at night. Make sure you look at it from all angles.
