Since 2000, Coyote Canyon Adventures is offering the most exciting and highest quality family adventure tours available in San Miguel de Allende. We have half-day, full day and overnight horseback riding excursions available. Our expert cowboy guides lead you safely through working cattle ranches, into Coyote Canyon(a.k.a. Cañada de la Virgen), through its river, over its plains, across its gorges, and down its sheer cliffs, all the while sharing with you their in-depth knowledge of the native flora and fauna. Their horseback riding excursions are exciting and rugged yet can also be tailored for families with small children or for seniors who would prefer a slower pace. Or if you require a little more adrenaline you can add some rappelling at the end of your ride or hike through the canyon. We also offer the finest tours available of the archeological site named "Sitio Arqueologico Cañada de la Virgen", which is a 1600 year old pyramidal complex in the same area.

Marie was our guide for a 3.5 hour ride into the canyons outside San Miguel. We were able to gallop a few times (optional) and swim briefly in a cool stream. Hot day, so water was a must. Very nice, authentic Mexican lunch back at the ranch. Tame horses, good guides. Muy bien!

My wife and I did the Pyramid tour with ranch lunch and it was an excellent experience. Our tour guide Albert was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the pyramid in great detail. The ranch lunch afterwards was great and worth the extra money. Highly recommend.

The horses were well treated, pretty unflappable, but perky when it came time to gallop. The fellas at the ranch were friendly and fun. The French tour guide (Marie) was so great. I really liked the focus on the horses, the ranch, and the experience. (Personally I don't get much out of deep explanations and history.) Went with my two... More

A must do tour. This is a fact. Awesome ride through canyons, river, possibility to rappel in one of the canyons. The horses were very good too, responded well to commands. Not like usually dumb horses you will find in this kind of tours. However there is room for improvement in costumer handling, mainly in the preparation and conclusion of... More

The excursion was easily arranged via email. Our guide Alberto is a highly educated anthropologist-therefore incredibly knowledgable, personable and the best guide we have seen compared to the many other archeological guides we've experienced elsewhere in Mexico and Belize. The tour is not to be missed when visiting SMA; the area is beautiful and the setup at the archeological site... More

The ride to the canyon is spectacular. Incredible natural beauty. The horses are very well trained and safe to ride even if you don't have any experience. Everything is very well organized, nice lunch afterward at a typical Mexican ranch.

We visited Canada de la Virgen with Alfred Coffee yesterday and could not have been more pleased. The pyramid complex was relatively recently discovered and Alfred worked on the site as an archaeologist. His insights, knowledge and enthusiasm taught us so much, in a charming and unassuming way – no classroom lectures just wonderful stories that captivated our attention. We... More

We spent the day yesterday with Rodrigo and his team at Coyote Canyon Ranch. We were with my father aged 76, three daughters aged 13, 11, 9 and my wife. None of us have any riding experience. We spent the whole day there. Half day on the farm milking the cows, petting pigs, playing with the sheep. Then a four... More

We loved the entire experience-the communication from Rodrigo, the director, was informative and warm; the guide, Rosanna, is a wonderful archaelogist; and the experience at the Pyramid was intensely spiritual and deeply moving. We will never forget it and are so grateful we didn't miss it. And the afternoon also included a delicious, all natural lunch at a ranch run... More

From the great initial communication to the final ride back up the canyon, Coyote Canyon Adventures did not disappoint! We visited a working ranch, were given lunch and watched fresh cheese being made before heading out on well trained horses, with wonderful guides into a canyon full of beautiful and rugged terrain. I needed a break from the city and... More
