Great place to go in Allihies, good museum and a lovely little café where you can eat out the back. They serve tasty food and a good price and now have started to open for dinners! Great Place! :)

Excellent displays, explaining the human, topographical, and industrial history of the area, as well as the out migration to North America. Just a short walk from all the local B&B's.

One can appreciate Allihies without a visit to the copper museum. It makes one understand how hard life was in the 1880. There are a few artifacts but the history is well documented. What we enjoyed was the walk or drive to the mining shaft.. The road is narrow so be careful if you drive. The view is spectacular and... More

Reasonable price and very interesting for those who want to understand the history of the area. Easy to walk to and gives you a true appreciation of the difficult life of the copper miners and families.

Last weekend, we toured the Beara Peninsula, and we visited the Coppermine Museum in Allhies near the tip of the Beara Peninsula, it was a fascinating and educational visit about the history of mining of copper and the stories of the people who made a living there 100-200 years ago. We were greeted by larger than life Character, HANK, who... More

The museum is located in 19 the century Methodist church originally built for the miners. Very educational guided tours tell the story of copper mining since Bronze Age till 20 th century. The museum store is interesting and there is a cafe. After visiting the museum hikers can go on the Allihies Copper Trail

Great, vibrant and fascinating little museum with lovely coffee shop which offers free wifi! The history of Allihies copper mines is fascinating, (When the ores dried out, the miners left for Butte, Montana, the biggest Irish place in USA at the time! ) The museum displays are perfect and the events organized by the museum (lectures, concerts) are quite impressive... Great place to go to learn about Allihies history. There is also a school project there about the coppermines which is very well researched. My children loved reading this. Well done to the children who worked on this project &their teacher Ms Harrington.

We were staying nearby and despite having three children, the smallest if whom is 4 we decided to visit this very interesting little museum. We didn't eat here so can't comment on that part. We all found it very very interesting and we would love to have visited the actual mines via a Walking tour but didn't have the chance... More

Really enjoyed the museum but wasn't impressed with the staff or with the hygiene standards . When we arrived, staff were standing around in kitchen area having cups of tea and studiously ignoring us, the floor was really dirty and tables were not cleared even though we were the only people in there. On a positive note , the lemon... More
