Plenty of sunshine, fun and relaxation! So much to do we can't wait to go back. We enjoy a little adventure so we snorkled at nearby cenotes (caves) and visited the Dolpinarium at Puerto Marinas, and my husband enjoyed a SCUBA tour while the kids and I played with the dolphins. Next time we will stay longer and visit some... more

If you are looking for a photographer or videographer for your upcoming caribbean wedding, look no further! My new husband, Josh, and I were married in a destination beach wedding in Playa del Carmen on June 20, 2009, where we had Blue Lens Caribe do our photography and videography, and I could not be happier with the results! We received... more

Last year we vacationed in Playa del Carmen and took 2 tours (Chichen Itza and Coba) and enjoyed them so much we had to do another this year. This year we chose the "sea to cenote" tour ( http://www.yucatreks.com/seatocenote.htm ). Mitch Burkett's tours are the best we have ever been on. He keeps group size small (max 12-13 people). This... more

My husband, Terry, and I have been going to Playa del Carmen since 1993. We've been to beaches all over the world (Australia, France, Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, etc) and Playa is my favorite beach (I am a beach girl) in the world. The beaches in Playa are white, soft sand, no rocks and the water is crystal clear. They are... more

We were in Playa from 2/8 to 2/17. We stayed, as before, in an older, funky condo with large rooms and rooftop pool. Playa is a relaxing vacation, with warm breezes and palm trees. There are a few unique shops, though most are "more of the same." I recommend Senora Camiro's shop called "Detalles" on Av 1 at Calle 14,... more

The once expansive and delighful white sand beaches are being desroyed by the hurricans of the last 5 years or so. Large areas are now rocky and unpleasant to walk down. While still a delightful place to visit and swim, it will soon be necessary for government intervention to prevent the loss of the beautiful seafront. more

Just back from Playa, and it's become quite the hot spot. We stayed in a private home that we rented through a web site, walked everywhere, ate a lot and spent a lot of time on the beach. The further you get from the beach, the less touristy (and less pricey) everything becomes. Avenida 5ta is a blast, just say... more
