I have to say our experience on UltraMar was much better than Mexico Waterjets which is the one that runs the opposite hours. The boat we got with Mexico Waterjets (the noon one that leaves Cozumel to go to Playa) was awful. The top "outdoor" section is only open on the back so it's pretty enclosed and spells like fuel... Reading previous reviews, I worried about seasickness. No need at all! The ride was just fine, well-organized, and had the added enjoyment of an entertaining group of musicians/singers. Half-price with INAPAM card.

Ok, the water was super choppy and I was green. That staff did everything they could to make me comfortable for the 40 minute crossing. The ferry was clean, smelled nice. The bathrooms were clean as well. The staff was amazing and I highly recommend UltraMar when you need to get from Cozumel, Mexico to Playa Del Carmen. We arrived... More

Took the 11 am Ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. It was a windy day and the boat was swaying back and forth. The crew was very pleasant and quickly distributed vomit bags. The transfer took over 45 minutes and many got sick. The return ride was equally rough. If you get motion sickness easily, avoid the ferry.

Very convenient way to visit the island from Playa del Carmen. As advised just buy a one way ticket so you don't get stuck with one of the two operators who travel back and forth. Good little band on ferry who help the journey go by. Beware that there are no ferries by either company between 2 and 4pm!

Pleasant 45 minute water ride both ways. Best is to buy a 1 way ticket. If you buy a return ticket, you are stuck with the schedule of 1 of the 2 providers that leaves you less options for a return. Never a problem to get a ticket. There is some local music played on the boat that an individual... More

you have 2 reasonable ferry choices to Cozumel and both are great. You will have musical entertainment both directions, making the ride always pleasurable

My mom and I were going on a shore excursion to the Mayan Ruins and had to take the ferry to get to Playa del Carmen. This ferry crew are AMAZING!! From the moment, we stepped on the ferry, they greeted us, offered us drinks and I spoke to them in Spanish (I have been learning Spanish for six years... More

This is the best way to travel between the mainland and Cozumel. We took three trips to the mainland while in Cozumel and between Ultramar and Mexican WaterJets we much preferred the Ultramar ferry's, as their boats were better and cleaner. Just know that sometimes they have issues that cause the schedule to unexpectedly change (happened to us). So, make... More

My husband and I are not ones to get seasick. We booked a tour of the local ruins through our cruise ship which included the 1/2 round trip on this ferry from Cozumel to the main land. We had a thunder storm the night before and the water was still quite choppy. We were told we would be fine and... More
