I have been using UltrMar to get from Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel for ove 15 years and they are freindly and on time. Now they have music also. The trip is not cheap, about $25USD but is very convenient.

Departure locations and times changed without advanced notice. We did not know until we got off the bus that we the location had changed. Then we were given departure times when we purchased tickets however when we were in line for the boat, they removed two of the times.

Took a ride on this ferry last week when there was weather in the area. Apparently from other reports, this can be a rough crossing even when weather is mild. You know its rough when inquired whether conditions as what we were in were common and "this, it's no bueno" is the response, so I appreciated the honesty and friendliness... More

Easy to find the ticket booth near the pier that is currently under renovation. The staff is very kind to those who get motion sick. They hand out bags as one starts to look like they will get sick. I thought that they were the better ferry to take - you could actually see out of the windows on this... More

This service is reliable and good value. You can book your open tickets (leave whenever / return whenever) around town but better to do at the ferry terminal. About USD 6 each way. The ride over was very entertaining with a band and lots of people dancing! The ride back was very rough, they handed out sick bags before hand!... More

I don't like boats. The swaying rocking motion, the thud after crashing over waves...... The Ultramar was great! Fast, clean and friendly. Everything i had hoped for......... To those who get sea sick, take a Gravol quick dissolve 30 mins before departure, sit inside, take a window seat and relax. It was a good experience.

Very fast service, and clean ships every time I have traveled to Cozumel with them. It appears they are adding more ships to the fleet, which is needed as it seems to be more crowded each time.

This island is easily reached by ferry from Playa Del Carmen. You should avoid the ticket touts and buy from the ferry office. We hired a local 4 wheeler for the day though an agent on the pier. It cost us $50 + $20 for fuel. (refused the extra "insurance" - have own damage waiver cover). The cost with the... More
