We took the UltraMar Ferry back and forth from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen twice recently. There was live entrainment on two of the trips and they were a fantastic distraction from the queasiness. Note that they do not always except credit cards. If there's a long line to get tickets prior to the departure time…you're out of luck. Have... More

We took the UltraMar ferry as part of our cruise excursion from the Cozymel port to Playa de Carmen. It was clean and comfortable and the staff worked very hard to make everyone's trip enjoyable.

We travelled from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel, pleasant fast ride and air conditioned inside. Would recommend you only buy a one way ticket as there are two different companies running ferries at alternate times, unless you know for definite the ferry times you want to travel on beforehand

The ferry system is THE method to get to the island, be prepared for large numbers of people, all traveling with supplies... this is not a boat cruise. Easy to navigate on the Cozumel end, same as 5th avenue though.

You can round trip for approx 300 pesos. The boats are med size and will bounce a bit if the water is chopy. Not good for those with sea sickness. On board you can buy drinks and chips. Live music and quick to cross to the island

One of cruise ship stop was in Cozumel and we took boat from Cozumel to Mainland to go to resort and ruins. Boat was clean and has food and drink available. Boat ride is about 45 min each way and over open ocean so it is quite rough. Many of passenger couldn't keep what they had for breakfast. They do... More

I found this to be the fastest and easiest way to arrive on the island of Cozumel. The ferry leaves from Playa del Carmen every 2-3 hours until 10pm. You will arrive within 30-40 minutes depending on the conditions of the seas. I found this mode of transportation very economical during my Riviera Maya tour costing 163 pesos one way.... More

I have to say our experience on UltraMar was much better than Mexico Waterjets which is the one that runs the opposite hours. The boat we got with Mexico Waterjets (the noon one that leaves Cozumel to go to Playa) was awful. The top "outdoor" section is only open on the back so it's pretty enclosed and spells like fuel... Reading previous reviews, I worried about seasickness. No need at all! The ride was just fine, well-organized, and had the added enjoyment of an entertaining group of musicians/singers. Half-price with INAPAM card.

Ok, the water was super choppy and I was green. That staff did everything they could to make me comfortable for the 40 minute crossing. The ferry was clean, smelled nice. The bathrooms were clean as well. The staff was amazing and I highly recommend UltraMar when you need to get from Cozumel, Mexico to Playa Del Carmen. We arrived... More
