Rio Secreto was awe inspiring and and an absolute otherwordly experience. It is a truly fascinating and wondrous place. When in the area and looking for a unique and memorable adventure, this should top your list. I even took my 7 year old daughter and she had a magical time! more

Stepping down into the caves, was like entering into a different underworld, dazzling, serene, and creepy all at the same time. Untouched by humans, the caverns seem to swallow you whole, and it's almost like you dont know where to look first to take it all in. The stalagtites dangling precariously, the stalagmites, the crystal water.....ok I'm being dramatic, but... more

The tour guide was fantasic, either spanish or english speaking tours. They provide you with the wet suit, water shoes, helmut & life jacket. You go in the cave in a small group, we were with 2 other people. The staff at Rio Secreto really want you to enjoy the caves, but your not allowed to touch the limestone. It... more

I toured this absolutely magical reserve this summer. It is untouched by the typical tourism one finds in resort communities. The guide was professional and well educated on the site. One travels truly the underworld that is often only seen via a media source or in your imagination. The hour and a half tour took our small group of 5... more

The variety of cave formations was amazing. The 5% of time spent swimming was a bit chilly but not too bad. We were so busy taking in this new world that our time went by far too quickly. Fernando is an excellent guide whose enthusiasm for the caves was contagious! My son & I are extremely claustrophobic and we never,... more

My name is Gloria and I am 66 years of age. I have been on a fantastic 2 month vacation to Mexico. Of all the places I have experienced my most memorable experience was my trip to Rio Secreto in Playa del Carmen. We look at the galaxies and are amazed at the intricacies above us. We look at the... more

I was quite skeptical after my husband brought up the idea of this adventure but after some convincing and research, I gave in and I am so glad I did this in September 09! We booked through our resort for the next morning (picked up at 7:45 a.m. ) and a short trip on an air conditioned van, we arrived... more

The one thing you might read about the most is the cost of the pictures. Considering you have a professional photographer the whole time who trials your group, and consider that they have strategically placed remote flashes set-up throughout the cave, its no wonder they are priced higher than your average souvenier photos. They have actually come down on the... more

Yes, it's an expensive outing. And speaking of expense, we actually haggled with Best Day Travel (agency down there) for a price that started at $119/person (!) but got it down to $81 (which included park fee, lunch and transportation from the Cancun hotel zone). It would be cheaper if we'd taken their $41/person entry deal and rented a car,... more
