The hacienda and grounds are beautiful. The tour lead by Jose who is friendly and knowledgeable was very interesting! Jose's English is excellent as he spent 3 years as an exchange student in America. You will see the whole process of how they used to turn the agave plant into fiber which then could be made into rope. The hacienda... More

One of the very few Henequen haciendas where you can see the process of making yarn and ropes out of Henequen (albeit if only for tourists and for a private fund). A nice and picturesque hacienda and a nice donkey pulled cart will also take you for a nice swim in its privately owned cenote.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our excellent tour guide was Jose. He covered a wide range of information that covered a full range of history, socioeconomic conditions, horticulture, hennequin production, etc. The hacienda and grounds are lovely. At the restaurant, we had one of the best meals that we have eaten in our 3 trips to the Yucatan.... More

A working henequen plantation that preserves the hacienda way of life of the 19th century. The plantation continues to manufacture henequen used for the making of rope and clothing and offers a tour of the hacienda and plantation. The restaurant has fabulous food prepared to suit any taste. Try the mixed platter of Yucatecan foods.

Our bilingual guide explained about life on the hacienda & the workings of the machinery to make rope from henequen plants. Touring the well maintained hacienda with its many period piece furniture was delightful as well as informative. The horse/donkey drawn cart around the plantation to the Mayan house with the old Mayan man describing his life work in his... More

We honestly just read online that there was a cenote here that was kinda nice so we drove to it from Merida centro. We had no idea there was a full tour needed to get to the cenote. So we took the tour since that was the only option and we really liked it. Very educational and beautiful. We were... More

Hit all the marks -- excellent historical information delivered in a lively accessible manner -- fascinating demonstrations of the production & processing of sisal -- an important interchange with a Mayan man who brought to life the Mayan experience at this hacienda -- topped off by a delightful rail ride to a beautiful cenote for a refreshing swim. And --... More

Overall we enjoyed our tour which included round trip transportation, tour and 4 course lunch (huge! tasty lunch). We did feel a bit rushed through the henequen(sisal) processing portion of the tour. We found the information very interesting and would have liked to try some of the hands on parts of the processing ourselves. Our guide was very patient with... More

This is a wonderful day trip from Merida in which you can not only hear but see how hennequin, the green gold, of this area was produced over 100 years ago. Our guide was very informative and spoke in both Spanish and English so everyone could appreciate the tour. You can pick up the tour van in the center square... More
