We had a really interesting day here and found the tour guide very informative. It’s an important and fascinating part of Yucatan history.
Hit all the marks -- excellent historical information delivered in a lively accessible manner -- fascinating demonstrations of the production & processing of sisal -- an important interchange with a Mayan man who brought to life the Mayan experience at this hacienda -- topped off by a delightful rail ride to a beautiful cenote for a refreshing swim. And --... More

Overall we enjoyed our tour which included round trip transportation, tour and 4 course lunch (huge! tasty lunch). We did feel a bit rushed through the henequen(sisal) processing portion of the tour. We found the information very interesting and would have liked to try some of the hands on parts of the processing ourselves. Our guide was very patient with... More

This is a wonderful day trip from Merida in which you can not only hear but see how hennequin, the green gold, of this area was produced over 100 years ago. Our guide was very informative and spoke in both Spanish and English so everyone could appreciate the tour. You can pick up the tour van in the center square... More
Visiting this Hacienda was a perfect day! We were picked up by a van in Centro Merida and traveled about 1 hour to the Hacienda. After a brief tour of the main Hacienda, we learned about how rope was made from Agave, seeing each step of the way demonstrated. We then traveled by a mule train through the agave plantation... More
We had a driver and a van for the 8 of us so getting there was not a problem. At the hacienda our presenter spoke both Spanish and English and was very informative. Seeing how they could make the ropes from sizel was amazing, then being transported through the fields by the mule like horse drawn wagon was fun. Swimming... More
This was an excellent tour and one of the highlights of our trip. Educational and fun at the same time. Awesome swim in the cenote!
My family and I visited here and it was really well worth it. We had a rental car and you will need your GPS smart phone app to help you find it as it is not well sign posted. The tour of the fully restored hacienda was really well done, informative and educational. Really brings you back in time. They... More
My boyfriend and I were in Merida in 2012,and visited this hacienda. We enjoyed it so much, that we went back to see it again this year. The tour is very comprehensive with a tour of the hacienda, an explanation of the sisal trade and how it shaped Merida and the bulk of the Yucatan, a look at working machinery... More
Interesting 1.5 hour tour (we only took the first half – of the factory and the restored hacienda house). Jorge, our docent, was friendly, helpful and informative. Interesting to learn of the history and to get demonstrations of how the hennequin is taken from harvest to rope. Recommended.
