...and the Canadians, too. Here is where many of the English-speaking expats hang out, and if you're wondering if you'd like to be an expat too one day, find out when they're having a social event. Despite some recent back-stage drama, MEL is a real asset to the expats and locals alike.

Thru friends we went to the Library for the home tours. It was great! the atmosphere at the library is peaceful, the people very friendly. Great for expats and non-expats to go...there's a fee for the tour only...

Need to find out more about the Maya? About how to navigate around town? MEL probably can help you. Want to stock up on downtime reading material? 1-2 (trash novel) books at 20 pesos each, 3 for 50 pesos. Bring yours to exchange!

We spent a very enjoyable morning attending the presentation at the library and later ,the tour.It was interesting to see various homes in different stages of renovations and also some homes which were for sale. This is a great fundraiser for the library.

Located in the heart of the Historic District, this library is a great meeting place for expats. Additionally, native Spanish speakers come to hone their English reading skills. I love sitting in the tree lined back courtyard listening to specially scheduled storytellers of Yucatan history share their knowledge. I also love the fundraising weekly House Tours whereby groups of visitors... More

The tours are lead by well spoken and knowledgable volunteer guides who live near the library. The homeowners are often present and speak a little bit about the uniqueness of their home. I highly... Maybe the most useful Merida information source in town. Aside from books, look for postings on the message board.
