The hacienda has been the location of several film and television productions, and is featured in most travel guides. Its archives are frequently cited in historical texts and research. The Hacienda may be the best preserved but unrestored hacienda in the Yucatan. The Hacienda is open daily for tours, a private guest house, museum of Mayan artifacts, gift shop, snack bar and events. « less

This place is amazing. It is easy to see how grand this place once was. In reading the guide books, you imagine this place to be in a state of decay. The Hacienda is gorgeous even in its current state and there are many beautiful tropical plants on the grounds. We visited in our own rental car (not part of... More

I liked seeing the old buildings with the original tile and wall paper from the Henequen period. They give you a tour and show you how the henequen was used.

We spent two nights at the Hacienda Yaxcopoil and look forward to returning. The casita was comfortable and very charming. The food prepared by Aurora was OUTSTANDING! What a lovely experience. Do not miss visiting this hacienda and if you can spend a few nights you will be rewarded with a unique experience. To wake up in the morning and... More

This is one of the most impressive old haciendas in the entire region. It is massive, and because it didn't shut down until the early 1980s, it is still easy to imagine daily life there. It is a ruin, not a restoration, but there is furniture in the rooms and photos on the walls. The architecture is incredibly beautiful, with... More

If you speak any Spanish at all, ask for a guide. I don't know if they have anyone who speaks English. You learn so much more about the hacienda and factory life.

My all time favorite hacienda. Still privately owned and showing signs of the difficulty of maintaining an ancient building. Once a grand henequen plantation it is no longer actively harvesting or processing the plant. Stop on your way to Uxmal for lunch. You won't be disappointed.

You don’t want to drive from Merida just to see this ex-hacienda, but if you’re on your way to Uxmal or Temozon Sur, it’s worth a stop. You pay to enter the house but the former working part of the hacienda is accessed to the right and, to me, is the more interesting part.

You will find a lot , but I mean a lot of haciendas near Merida. In the 16 and 17th centuries hey were cattle ranches and were transformed to produce Sissal fiber in the 19th and early 20th centuries. During this period this were perhaps the wealthiest ranch in the world , and you can get an idea of how... More

My boyfriend and I had visited the Soltuta de Peon hacienda, which has a spectacular tour (we liked it so much, we have been twice), and on a whim, decided to visit Yaxcopoil. This was a much different experience, as there wasn't a guided tour, you just toured the grounds on your own. The grounds are lovely, and you can... More

Step back in time when visiting this beautiful and amazing hacienda. If you like historic homes and furnishings and gorgeous scenes from another era, this is your dream destination. Bring your camera --- you'll get some great photo ops. It was the highlight of my trip to Merida.
