The walking tour with the tourist office was good ,it was mainly history of the Mayans, but went to governor mansion, cathedral, town hall. There is another free tour that goes more around Merida that might be better

Yucatecans (especially those from Merida) are very proud of their heritage so it is no wonder that the tourism office staff are seemingly excited to share all about the area, it's history, and all the fun to be had in it. If it is your first time in the area, be sure to pop into the city building and pick... More

The people here are very pleasant and somewhat helpful but spoke only Spanish. Will provide proper bus information for sights in the vicinity. Ask your hotel for help/directions in you do not speak Spanish.

Not impressed, although it is in a pretty building, AND I speak passable Spanish. On many levels, i prefer a non-tourist friendly Merida, but do it right if it's to be done.

Situated in an unmissable pink historic building on the Plaza Grande, this is a tourism office worthy of the name. Firstly, the staff were multi-lingual - our group had English, German, and French speakers; and all were served in their home language. The staff were welcoming and very keen to tell us everything we might want to know about Merida... More

We went to the tourist office near the Zocalo/ Plaza Grande and picked up a map of the area around the Plaza (Merida Pocket Guide) and surrounding neighborhoods. The Guide shows spots of interest and indicates routes to various places out of town. It was extremely useful while we were in Merida.

They were very helpful when I needed to report a theft and gave me details of where to go as well as the buses I could take to get there.

I've been to two: the one at the Plaza Grande and one on the Paseo de Montejo. You'll get a free map at the Plaza Grande and there are a number of brochures available from local businesses. The girl who works there is rude, however, The last time I was there a young man was also providing help and he... More

We consulted the Tourism Office to get our bearings twice while staying in Merida. They were helpful and courteous.
