Free walking tour

At 9:30 they offer a free walking tour around the square. Local Mayan guide spent two hours telling us much about persecution of Mayans, in English. Much history.

Not much to see inside but if you can go to the second floor into the balcony you will have a great view of the Plaza Grande... It is a government building with offices inside

The Merida City Tourism Office is situated on the main floor inside the pastel pink painted Palacio Municipal building, located on the west side of Merida’s Plaza Grande (Calle 62 between Calles 61 and 63). Inside, you can find lots of brochures for activities and attractions in the city and surrounding area as well as maps of Merida. There are... More

Merida a great place and very nice to visit. We have been there twice. The first time we spend two days for the Independance celebration. What was a great experience, the atmosphere with all the people music, fireworks till early in the morning.

Excellent English language skills and a real desire to help tourists that is not always evident in tourist offices. Easy to find in the main zocalo.

Bureau of Tourism was extremely helpful. The individual booths located all over the city were a great help to my husband and myself. All questions were answered. My only complaint about the trip was that not one bank in Merida would exchange our American Express Travelers Checks. We do not like to charge our expenses and we felt uncomfortable carrying... Well located; able to support us with a member of staff whose English was infinitely better than our Spanish. We found free music on in different places in the evening.
