Staff is very helpful and can refer to events happening while you are in town. Well worth a stop. Ask about walking tours too.

This group along with the local police officers on the street, were very helpful with directions and recommending venues to visit.

We walked in on Sunday morning and got the info we needed. Very pleasant staff, but their English was surprisingly lacking.

This is a good place to start, to get suggestion for your time in Merida. The staff speak many languages and are very helpful. Ed Jackson

While we're willing to try to communicate in Spanish, we were a little surprised that the cheerful young people staffing the tourist spoke little English given how many foreign visitors were stopping by. Also, there doesn't seem to be a simple calendar that indicates what's going on in each park or place on any given day. Very hard to figure... More

There are actually two tourist offices on the xocalo (main square). The one at the entrance of the Palacio del Gobierno on the north side of the square, operated by the state of Yucatan, is larger and has more staff present (whose English ranged from excellent to good) and was very helpful with questions such as which city bus to... During our stop at the tourism kiosk on Paseo de Montejo, the office was staffed by a young lady who could not have communicated her complete lack of interest in our questions better except, perhaps, by going to sleep while we ask them. Need help? Ask someone in a hotel. Those folks are invariably kind, patient and helpful.

The walking tour with the tourist office was good ,it was mainly history of the Mayans, but went to governor mansion, cathedral, town hall. There is another free tour that goes more around Merida that might be better

Yucatecans (especially those from Merida) are very proud of their heritage so it is no wonder that the tourism office staff are seemingly excited to share all about the area, it's history, and all the fun to be had in it. If it is your first time in the area, be sure to pop into the city building and pick... More

The people here are very pleasant and somewhat helpful but spoke only Spanish. Will provide proper bus information for sights in the vicinity. Ask your hotel for help/directions in you do not speak Spanish.
