For me, the police at the entrance while always friendly, communicate a seriousness about the place. Several large murals are on display on both the ground level and upper level. The murals are impressive by their size and the images which reflect the Mayan history in the Yucatan. More

The murals here are beautiful and are well explained, so you don't need a guide. You could easily spend an hour here as it's really peaceful and has lovely views across the square. It was my favourite thing to do in Merida and it was free! More
