I found Spanish School ECORA by searching "spanish immersion in Mexico" Several schools popped up in several different cities. I knew if I wanted to be serious about learning spanish I needed to stay away from most beach towns and the "gringos" they attracted. I had seen Merida featured on "House Hunters International" and it looked like a great city... More

I chose a 3 week course of Spanish classes with a 3 week homestay. My homestay host was attentive and helpful. Sofia also teaches Yucatan cuisine cooking classes so all the meals were healthy and delicious. At the ECORA school I received individual attention and useful textbooks. Jose was happy to structure the lessons to my learning style and not... More

Ecora school teachers did excellent job keep pushing us out of comfort zone. Simple sentence isn't good enough, we need to do more elaborated ones. In the end, everyone did 10-min oral presentation. Highly recommended if you are serious about breaking thru the glass ceiling like what I had in Spanish

The Spanish School ECORA does a good job of teaching Spanish to non-native speakers. I have been to three other Spanish language schools for short periods of time, e.g. a week or two, over the course of the last three years. The people, especially Juan Luis, are very helpful and flexible with individual needs. Juan Luis even helped me with... More

I believe they have shut down, I live nearby and stopped at the Calle 50 #361 address and it looked vacant. The phone numbers are inactive also.

I undertook an intensive 30 hour a week immersion course in Spanish. I had no knowledge of Spanish at all, except for being around friends who allegedly spoke the language in my presence. By the end of two weeks I was in a position to follow a conversation fairly well but still had a tough time speaking the language. Another... More

My wife and I were the only students during the week and the instructor, Don Jose, was extremely accommodating to us. He picked us up the first day and to drive us to the school and subsequently he held daily 5-hour lessons for us at our hotel. He even drove us out to Progresso beach on one day. I thought... More

The teachers - Don Jose and Hiram - were excellent. Instead of just plowing through the two books, they forced us to speak a lot. This made me a lot more comfortable with my ability to actually carry on a conversation, albeit one with a lot of grammar mistakes. The books were easy to understand and to follow. Now I... More

Good: I learned more Spanish. The instructor: Don Luis. Bad: How far the school is located. I had to take a bus from el centro 30-45 minutes each way. I wanted/paid for group classes and was the only one at the school. In their defense: I knew this going in but prefer at least a few others. The schedule and... More

Before the Internet, travelers had to rely on travel agencies, guide books and word of mouth from friends. Today, thanks to the Internet , cell phone apps, tablets and laptops travelers have immediate access to information 24/7 . We can book online, change reservations, cancel reservations etc everything online. It really is a modern day Marvel. Accordingly we have a... More

I did a two week course at the start of April 2012 and, most importantly, I learned a lot. Two weeks is not enough time (I'd highly recommend a month), but my teacher (Don Jose Luis) was great and we stormed through the grammar, which I think has given me a good starting point for learning. I paid for a... More
