This is one of my favourite beaches in the world. I could stay here for months if I had the opportunity and an endless supply of books to read. White sand, clear water that stretches out for miles. Chilled and laid back. Stay in the youth hostel down the road OR stay in a beach front hotel. Eat in the... more

I had a great time at this wonderful beach! I highly recommend Isla Mujeres to everyone. I went twice this year (to Mexico, to Cancun, to Isla Mujeres). The first time I was there it was afternoon, so there were quite a few people at Playa del Norte, but it was not ridiculously crowded. We swam/relaxed on the part of... more

Playa del norte was my favorite place on the island. It wasn't crowded during our stay so it was very nice. The sand is white and water is blue...like a paradise! more

Sand: awesome. Water: unbelieveably clear. Swimming: very shallow & safe (at least in front of Cabanas del Mar). *PAY THE $ FOR A BEACH CHAIR*. You'll stay cleaner. If you are looking for some quiet tranquility on a great beach, well the beach is great but you will be constantly interrupted (even when you are asleep) by people selling jewelry,... more

It's a good beach, we liked it. You are most definitely gonna see a few branches the Mexican Armed Forces while your over there. Have nothing to fear.... they looked soo freindly i was trying to get my wife to go over so i could take a picture of her with them. Nice calm water and its a great place... more

White sands and blue waters. You can walk out for ages in the shallow waters. Definitely the best beach on the island. As for the last post the town is a typical mexican village so there are some shops trying to encourage you in but a simple no gracias is fine. The island is home to a naval base so... more

I read good things about Playa Del Norte and the island in general before I went over but WOW! What a DUMP! While fighting past the pushy salesmen trying to get you to look at their crappy merchandise while walking towards Playa Del Norte, the Federales come zooming by in a jeep with a guy manning a machine gun in... more

This was a highlight of my trip. I loved this beach. Best water ever, crystal clear bathwater! White sugary sand. Find a hammock and relax, when you get hot hit the water. more

We've been visting almost every year for the past ten years during our stay in Cancun. Isla Mujeres and Playa Norte is a refreshing "get-away" from the hustle and bustle of the Hotel Zone. After a short walk through a "typical" Mexican town after getting off the ferry you arrive at a PRISTINE white sands beach with perfectly calm and... more

17 Aug 2007 We escaped the awful El Pescador Beach Club (Carribean Funday Excursion from Cancun) with our two girls (7 & 9) and took a 45 Pesos taxi to this beautiful beach and waded out 150yards in the crystal clear waters. We were soon joined by Raphael and his kayaks. Usually I am pretty intolerant of beach hawkers but... more
