Nice shops, good restaurants along the main road. We ran into some cool boutiques and beautiful jewelry shops. There are shops with the same stuff....but even those shops had unique things that often made us buy. Be sure to bargain for your goods! Amazing how the prices vary from store to store. Even the vendors that set up shop at... More

I was there as a tourist so can't complain that it was an easy place to visit as a tourist. Most vendors spoke English. It was easy to get Mexican souvenirs. The kids even liked it!

With the new Royal Village shopping mall at the other end of town, the main square in San Miguel is getting an over due face lift. A lot of construction and dust. Several shops have closed up as well. Once the new updates are complete - this area will be back to the gem it once was.

San Miguel is in many ways still a sleepy, Mexican town. The area near the waterfront is more developed, but beware the locals accosting you to buy -- whether blankets or timeshares. Get a few blocks off the waterfront to find the real San Miguel, a colorful town full of friendly people, with excellent neighborhood restaurants and cantinas.

I felt safer here, even at 3 in the morning, after having a few drinks, than I have in parts of Canada and parts of the US. There are so many great local restaurants to try. They all seem to have the best guacamole too. I recommend exploring the area and just stopping in wherever catches your eye. I enjoyed... More

Have been to Coz 3 times for a week each time but never stayed in a downtown hotel until this last trip. I LOVED being downtown. Always felt totally safe (I'm a 50 y.o. female) and walked around every night, visiting with shopkeepers, having coffee at numerous places, shopping, eating, etc. On my previous 2 trips, I stayed at resorts... Lots of shopping and hidden gems. Bar scene is better during day but plenty of great local restaurants at night.

This was a nice city. You always felt very safe while walking. If you got off the main walk and got a little further off there were some very nice Artisans. They were just redoing the town square, so I would like to go back and see it when it is done. Shoppig was good, but it all started looking... More

There are all sorts of things to do besides shopping if you look for them! There is a small theater tucked inside the main shopping center with folklore performances. There are craft stations, lots of cultural monuments and views. Walk on the side of the street opposite shops (near the shore) unless you enjoy getting constantly heckled by salesmen. Go... More

plenty of stuff in this town. Shops and restaurants galore located near the water. Driving around was quite interesting as well. Seemed like a safe place-walked around and never was hounded by the locals. People were friendly. Always nice to explore new towns.
