Great hands on experience with how chocolate is made

Our family of 4 (8 and 11 year olds) enjoyed this experience. You first watch a video that was interesting for the adults but at times lost the 8-year-old. Ruby, one of the eight employees at the Factory, then came in to go over the process with us. She then took us into another room to make the chocolate. Great... More

For a great air conditioned indoor activity in Cozumel, try the chocolate seaside workshop. This two hour experience teaches you about Mayan chocolate from the bean to the finished chocolate bar. You will learn about chocolate as a vegetable, grind your own beans, mold it and take it with you. The second hour you will taste 7 different flavors of... More

This was money so well spent.. The tour was almost two hours long. You got to see a film on the history of the cocoa bean and how they started using it for candy. After that we actually made a chocolate bar to take home to make hot cocoa. Then we went to the gift shop where she let us... More

We've had the tour before, so this year just went to purchase chocolate. We still got to taste every flavor they're currently making (no orange chocolate right now, darn), and ended up buying two boxes of ten (and you get one bar free with this), flavors of our choice. Especially good is the white chocolate coconut, but the hazelnut won... More

This was one of our sightseeing tour stops and it was nice to be shown the process of making chocolate from cocoa seeds. They were very friendly and funny as well. Quick stop and not a lot to do here.

My sister-in-law, my 17 year old son and I took a tour of the Kaokao Chocolate factory one morning during our visit to Cozumel. Our guide was wonderful and really sweet (no pun intended). Our tour started with a history of chocolate in Mexico. My son told me this part was not really interesting but my sister-in-law enjoyed the lecture.... More

I loved KaoKao! They made me feel welcome and entertained me with a video when I arrived significantly early for the workshop. Joshua, one of the owners, taught me about chocolate for 2 hours. He's a walking encyclopedia of chocolate! He learned about chocolate making in Oaxaca over 10 yrs ago. I got to toast cacao beans and learned to... More

We began with a short walking tour on a paved path past the farming garden where small kaokao trees and other plants are growing. Next we walk into a large room with benches. Here we meet Angel. He is a very enthusiastic staff member who explains how and why the Mayans valued cocoa even more than gold – you can’t... More

Definitely go here! This is an immersive interactive experience. When you enter the building, you are immediately swept away to a different place - it is quite beautiful inside, modern, tropical, colorful, elevated yet authentic. Also, as this was key for us, all of the rooms are fully wheelchair accessible, which we were so happy to see, ramps in and... More

Wow! just an amazing experience. The staff are super friendly, and you get to make and taste your own chocolate. When you taste, you can definitely taste the freshness of the chocolate. Plus, they teach you how to recognize great chocolate. hint hint... it starts by tasting the white chocolate first. Definite good place to bring kids too. They will... More
