I was there two years ago and it is still just as memorable as the day we were there. Petrus was friendly and very thorough when I called and talked to him six months before our visit. Once we arrived, he picked us up and gave us a informal tour on the way out to the lodge. The relaxation in... More

Even though it is not for everyone, it is for those that like off- the- beaten- path adventures. It blends history and spirituality. The host is very knowledgeable and friendly.

If you are looking for something different, something that you will never forget, something that sets you apart from just another cruising tourist, then Petrus and his Mayan Sweat Lodge is something that you must experience. I am an anthropologist, specializing in Mexico and the Mayan culture. It is impressive that Petrus understands the Mayan culture so well. In another... More

Would not have known about this if not for my amazing stepmother. Wonderful, once in a lifetime experience!

Road past a jail into a buggy jungle. Listened to some story about earth wind fire and water. A little strange unless you are into that kind of thing. Participated in some kind of ceremony then headed for a huge brick oven and was told to get inside! ( think Hansel and Gretel). Both my daughter and I almost had... More

After reading your review, I can perceive you felt like surprised and, to be honest, that makes me feel surprised as well. it seems you feel fooled or that we lied to you. I am sorry, we never do that. There are tons of pictures all around the web (TripAdvisor, Facebook, our site itself, etc.) where our attraction can be... More

Pros: We had a great experience with Frederico and his wife Gabbie. The whole history and just the reminder of finding balance was great. Cons: I kind of get a feeling that something was missing (necklace) we didn't get that. The mosquito you need a bug repellent that guards against ticks etc.. Since you don't feel any bites until you... More

I have done a temazcal before in Tulum, but it was in no way comparable to the intimate, spiritual, personal experience our group had with Petrus and his assistant, Federico. The energy was intense and the location perfect, remote and quiet, where you could hear your own thoughts and connect with nature again. Pack mosquito repellant, and remember this isn't... More

From the friendly greeting Petrus met us with throughout the entire adventure, this was an amazing trip out into the jungle and into my own heart and mind to rest, cleanse, and renew my spirit. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to move beyond the flashy entertainment into what life is really all about.

This world have been a neat experience if not for a couple of things... 1) mosquitoes inside the steam lodge eating you alive for an hour 2) a pool a yellow dirty standing water 'amber cenote' and 3) water is drinken out of questionably clean bowls 4) Petrus is not mayan so the authenticity was a bit lacking. Petrus is... More
