We enjoyed this interesting experience without having to leave the island of Cozumel. I think on a smaller scale for Mayan Ruins, this is something not to be missed. The history is interesting but we recommend a tour guide to share the history of each site with you, as you go. We wore flips flops and really wish someone would... more

I loved it. It's not nearly as commercialized as some of the other ruins but very well kept and marked. I had a rent car so there was no time pressure, and I just hung out at the place for hours. My wife kind of tolerated my gawking at all the ruins and climbing what I could. I loved it.... more

LOGISTICS -- For $45 USD, we hired a cab to drive us out to San Gervasio and wait for us, while we wandered around. We got there at 2:30, thinking that we'd have until sundown (around 5:30), but we learned that the ruins close at 4pm. Ninety minutes would probably be plenty for an average visit. For most of our... more

These ruins are a great alternative (cheaper, and much shorter distance from the cruise ship terminal) to Chichen Itza. These would probably be the best ruins to visit on the island. With a nice snack bar and quite expansive ruins to explore, these ruins were some of the most important on the island when they were inhabited making them one... more

We visited the San Gervasio ruins on Dec. 8, 2007, and found the site interesting. It's only a "must see" since Cozumel has few Mayan digs. When we got there, a "parking attendant" told you where to park, and reassured you he would watch over your vehicle. That wasn't really a concern to us, since we leave no valuables in... more

I was surprised to see that there was only ONE review of these ruins posted here. I think they are a bit overlooked. We visited Cozumel at the end of a 1-week cruise on NCL earlier this month. In Cozumel, our plan was to take the ship's shore excursion to Tulum, but it was cancelled. So, "Plan B" became to... more

Been there on several tours and several times without guides. In 95' while self guided we found several cenotes big enough to get into (watch out for the bats) and what looked to be an astrological pyrimid off the marked trails; very impressive. Back in 2005 looking to find that pyrimid again, but instead found what looked to be a... more

Spent a day here, but without a guide it was difficult to enjoy the ruins. The signs weren't overly descriptive, and the ruins are rather devastated. I think it'd be interesting if one brought or hired a guide, but for just sauntering around and looking it wasn't really interesting. Lots of lizards and iguanas made the walk more fun. more

Honestly, the only reason that I checked this place out was because my boyfriend really wanted to see it. We got there early-about 9 a.m. and I was already sweating (first week of August). We were the only ones walking around, so that was cool because I expected the place to be crowded. The ruins themselves are interesting to look... more

I can' t believe I am the first one to write a review for these ruins! We just got back from the 5-day cruise on the Carnival Inspiration and our family booked this private tour through shoretrips. While others were herded off the ship by the hundreds for their Carnival shore trips, we met our driver, Marco, at the taxi... more
