Had looked forward to this tour but found that after the long drive we didn't get enough time around the site by ourselves. That was partly our guides fault as he seemed to want to give us a guided tour for the whole time. Xichen itza is incredible though and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There are lots of sellers inside... We booked our tour through the concierge at our resort, and the tour operator was Experiancias Xcarat, Our driver, Jorge and guides were great. I was really impressed with the ease and fluidity that Arturo was able to translate between Spanish and English while he was giving us a breakdown of the day and information of what we were going... We just travelled to Chichen Itza and Valladolid with Xichen Tours. Our guides and driver (Manuel, Tomas and Hector) were very knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was organized and on time. Due to scheduling our lunch in Valladolid was late but I suspect that is not normally the case. I would highly recommend this tour.

The first thing you learn on the tour is that Pre-Colombain ruins are TEMPLES and NOT PYRAMIDS. These are four sided ruins not triangular pyramids in design. The guides provide a walking, talking overview tour connecting the group with audio device. There will be many guides there so this personal audio is important for each group. The quality of the... We booked our tour through Wayak tours, which was an easy process. The tour operator was Experiancias Xcarat, and we couldn't fault the efficiency and knowledge of our tour guides Angel and Jesus. The pick up from our hotel was on time, they provide a tasty breakfast on the way also. Once at the site, we were split into Spanish... More

We took a guided tour to Xichen Itza and learned about the ancient ruins. Only two sides of the main pyramid have been restored because they ran out of the original rocks. It turns out the former owner of the land used the best square stones to build his own house elsewhere. There is a ball court, smaller buildings and... More

Chichen Itza itself was great, but I think they tried to pack too much into one tour so everything seemed very rushed. In addition, they didn't feed us lunch until 3:45 or so in the afternoon, so it made for a long day. Lunch was in Valladoid, but since they rushed everything, you got maybe 30 minutes tops to walk... They really make up stories like ... I am ordering this for my mom in memory of my grandmother etc... and will recommend you not to buy anything at Chichen Itza from the Vendors just for you to later realize that you made a mistake because when they take you to lunch and recommend a shop owned by that restaurant... Definitely do the deluxe tour with this company (the Xcaret group which seems to have the upper hand on the best tours for fun and culture down on the Yucatan) to the Chichen Itza ruins. Don't let the 3 hour transportation back and forth deter you, it's not bad and they do a good job of breaking up the travel... More

I booked the Xichen Deluxe Tour through "Experiencias Xcaret" online 3 weeks before my trip, and I'm glad that I did because I didn't have to waste time during my vacation booking it with a travel agent on site. I highly recommend the Deluxe Tour which includes lunch, a tour of Chichen Itza (of course) the city of Valladolid, and... More
