Would highly recommend calling Monica Rivas for Taxi service. We luckily found her and she took us to Chichen Itza, Tulum, cenotes, shopping at Playa and to the airport at the end of our stay. She was very fun, kind, entertaining and knowledgeable about the area and people. We had a great time seeing the area around Riviera Maya thanks... More

I recommend booking an excursion when you are at port here. We didn't and decided to stick around the port area. I loved the shops and wish I could have shopped leisurely but that was not the case. Most of the stores didn't have prices on the merchandise prompting you to haggle with the salespeople. I don't haggle. A lot... More

The Riviera Maya seems to have exploded since the last time we were here about 10 years ago. This trip, we stayed at the Grande Luxxe Resort. Beautiful, large resort on the beach, friendly staff, pools, restaurants, spas, stores, bars, and everything else! You travel around the resorts by golf cart type shuttles to anywhere you want to go. Would... More

If you are planning to visit Riviera Maya, and you enjoy snorkeling, you must go to Xel-Ha, I went with my son and had a wonderful time, we decided to rented a car which was very convenient, I recommend you buy a ticket with food and beverages included by internet, and you will not worry for equipment and food, just... The Mayan riviera and all it's attractions are very accessible And easy to manage on your own. I recommend renting a car and planning your own day trips. Hotel and tour operators charge $100s per person for each excursion. You can rent a car and drive to the cenotes, Mayan ruins, snorkeling spots etc. you will save tons of money.... More

We just returned from a trip to Puerto Morelos, in Riviera Maya. We stayed at the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita (review coming) from 8/9/14 to 8/16/14. Potential visitors to the area should be aware that during this season there is abundant seaweed on the beach. If you go in the ocean you will be swimming around the seaweed, and... More

We stayed for the first time last year at the Barcelo Riviera Maya resort. I can not recommend this resort enough for a great vacation get-a-way for family or as we were a couple looking for romance. We stayed in the Hotel Tropical which of the five hotels on the resort is considered #2 in luxury. The top rated hotel... More

Want a true tropical paradise in Mexico? Travel a bit further south, about an hour and a half from Cancun airport to the Riviera Maya region! You're close enough to Playa Del Carmen, the Mayan Ruins, and all the adventure destination spots! Our hotel, the Barcelo Maya Resort was located in a jungle atmosphere, which you don't get in Cancun.... More

Be prepared to spend some money when it comes to getting in to the attractions/parks. Xel-Ha is worth the cost if you make a full day of it!

I have just returned from my 3rd visit in two years. What can I say, my family LOVES this place. The beaches are spectacular. The resorts are grand and there are so many to choose from. The Eco parks are fun. Xel-Ha is our favorite. From Cancun to Playa to Tulum, this is a magical land. The Mexican people are... More
