We bought tickets on the street for $2 for a cultural dance show....didn't believe that they were for 'real' and thought of it as a donation. Wow, when we were surprised that we really did have tickets for this incredible performance (same show in Mexico City for ten times that amount) in that glorious theater! The performances were A Plus!

On an afternoon when thunderstorms were threatening, we decided to visit this amazing museum. Be prepared to go from room to room along a few corridors. It's a relaxed atmosphere despite the ever present security. Every aspect of the culture is on display from the religious to farm tools to art forms. The lighting is dim but you can get...

The building which houses the museum is amazing, beautifully restored. Lovely views of the ethobotanical gardens. The exhibits were very interesting and an english audio tour was available. The artifacts on display from Monte Alban really tied the two activities together nicely.

This museum, housed in an ex-convento next to the Templo Santo Domingo, is essential for any visitor to understand the history and culture of pre- and post-hispanic Oaxaca. There's a lot to take in so plan accordingly.
Also, there is generally a contemporary art exhibit which, in my visits, has always been worth seeing.
