The Ethnobotanical Garden shouldn't be missed if you're visiting Oaxaca. The variety of the plants is amazing! I just loved seeing all the cacti throughout the space. It was the best? The guide was excellent too and extremely knowledgeable about the gardens. More

Tours in Spanish are more frequent but there are tours in English. The guides help you understand the interaction between humans and plants through the centuries. If you like birdwatching, there is lots to see here as well. More

Our English speaking guide engaged us for two hours in he identification and description of local plants of the area. There is so much to take in from the plants to the birds who make the garden their home. We learned about herbs and edible parts of some cacti that are part of Oaxacan delicacies. When we came back, we... More

This is a hidden gem in bustling Oaxaca. Our guide, Diego, brought history alive by sharing how the grounds went from a convent garden to a military dumping ground to the beginnings of the restoration and creation of the garden en the 1990's. All the plants in the garden are native to Oaxaca and many have medicinal as well as... More

We didn't spring for the guided tour, but heard very good things about it. If you visit the ex-convent beside the Santo Domingo church, you can look down from terraces upon this garden from all sides and off to the distant mountains. More
