I've been through this museum a few times, mostly for evening activities, but taking a friend through recently, I discovered, in a vault containing a wide assortment of stamps and baseball-related miscellanea, an incredible display of letters from Frida Kahlo to her California surgeon. Didn't think I would enjoy it so much. The space is beautiful...an oasis of calm and tranquility in busy Oaxaca...
It's a Harpe-Helu project. Need I say more? If you don't know this family, they are responsible for funding many great places in Oaxaca. The children's library, the textile museum, San Pablo. If you haven't seen any of them, you must see them all. They are fabulous. Oaxaca is lucky to have such great benefactors!
Thsi is a gem of a museum. Good installation. Fun and educational to visit with some activities for children. The collection is capitivating .. but the shop is seductive as you can buy sheets of stamps that are art in themselves. Toys; Talavera Ceramics. Foods of the region. prehispanic artifact are all available on sheets of stamps

I'm not a stamp fan but the combo of the space and the quirkiness of the shows always makes it interesting. Also home to the bike project in town.

If you collect or have an interest in the stamps or postal history of Mexico this is an excellent place, located right behind The Cathedral Santo Domingo.

Who knew postage stamps and postal memorabilia could be this interesting and well-displayed? We went in thinking it would take 10 minutes max, and ended up spending nearly an hour. The gift shop is also nice.
