My 2 weeks learning Spanish at this school will stand out as one of the highlights of my life. I stayed with a woman and her niece, so I got a real taste of life in Oaxaca as well as practice speaking Spanish with someone with seemingly infinite patience, and a great sense of humor. Three home-cooked meals a day,... More

My boyfriend and I found this school online and stayed for one week with a host family (arranged by the school). I found the structure of the classes to be very helpful (2 hours of "grammar" in the morning, a short break, then two hours of "conversation", guided by a different teacher in the afternoon). The excursiones were also really... More

Last year I decided to learn spanish during my 6 month stay in Mexico-my first spanish lessons ever-and after 4 weeks training at "Oaxaca International", I could easily talk with my mexican friends and other people in spanish. It was amazing! All the teachers around Ileana are really lovely, helpfull and anxious to teach you about vocab, grammar, mexican cultur... More

I came to Oaxaca International with very limited Spanish comprehension. After three weeks I had learned enough basics to be able to make my way through a two and a half month of backpacking around southern Mexico. The setup was two hours of grammar in the morning and then two more hours of conversation in the afternoon. I found it... More

We spent three weeks at this school as (almost) complete novices. We loved everything about it and made fast and lasting progress with our Spanish in a really supportive and relaxed atmosphere. We dropped in on the school on a Monday afternoon as we lived in the neighborhood and had not booked a language school in advance. Eliana, the head,... More

I've studied Spanish in many big cities and little towns. I always look for professional teachers, good methods, and appropriate activities, depending on someone's level. They have to have a positive and creative environment. This met all of my needs. The teachers are experienced, professional, friendly and patient! They're well prepared and the extra field trips were also well planned.... More

We spent only a week studying Spanish at Oaxaca International School and made amazing progress in that brief time. Our teachers were extremely helpful and patient. In classes of two hours, with a maximum of four students each, the time just flew by. In a smaller, more intimate school such as this, there was much more opportunity for interaction and assistance... Great approach to Spanish classes. We decided to sign up for 4 hours a day. First 2 hours spent on grammar and workbook excercises, last 2 hours spent on developing conversation skills. Loved the fact that we had 2 different teachers to work with, fun to mix it up! 2 excursions a week are included at no additional cost, thought... More

My husband and I spent four weeks studying at Oaxaca International and had a fulfilling experience. Ileana, the administrator of the school, arranged a home stay for us ahead of time and the family picked us up at the airport late on a Sunday evening. We arrived at school and took a brief placement test. When it became apparent that... More

The Special Christmas Program was great value for four weeks and my home-stay family worked out well! Class size was small and there was lots of personal attention. The school facilities are basic, but I appreciated the famiiy-like atmosphere, and the twice-weekly special cultural excursions are all included. The Grammar review based on their own workbook materials was very good,... More
