My friend and I took classes with Rogellio and Hector for 3 days and it was fantastic. This was my first time ever taking Spanish classes and I was drawn to Instituto Amigos del Sol's maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 3:1. All 3 of my session with Hector were 1 on 1 for 3 hours each. I was so pleasantly surprised... More

What I enjoyed so much about Amigos del Sol was the enthusiasm of Rogelio, Miriam and all the teachers for helping me learn a little Spanish. I arrived at the school unable to speak Spanish and left feeling so much more confident with the language. Every session was filled with interesting conversation. There was always a lot of laughter around... More

This is by far the best experience with language instruction that I have had. Over the past 35 years I've learned French, Italian, German, and Yiddish with over a dozen different instructors. Hector was intelligent, patient, and able to adapt the daily lessons to my level and interests. Rogelio is unbelievably friendly and helpful. The overall vibe at the school... More

Myself and a friend had the pleasure of spending 3 partial days with Rogelio and Miriam at this school. This small school is very welcoming and the teachers make you feel like friends. We had some Spanish experience and the class was tailored to fit our needs. We stayed with a family nearby that they arranged. Patricia and Mario were... More

I finished two weeks of lessons today. It was the perfect combination of formal and informal approaches! My teacher, Estaban, had a great sense of humor which helped immensely. The director, Rogelio, was super accommodating. I look forward to my next visit'

My 12 year old son and I had a wonderful experience at Amigos del Sol. Our Spanish improved greatly not only because of the wonderful Spanish language classes offered at Amigos del Sol but because of the wonderful family Rogelio placed us with. This was a wonderful experience.

I just finished a week at Amigos del Sol and had a great experience. This was my second trip there, my last one being two years ago. It was exactly what I wanted. Three hours a day of immersion into the language with a responsive teacher who engaged me in interesting conversation with splices of grammar and corrections. I can't... More

In January 2015 I again worked with Amigos del Sol. The director is outstanding and generous in being of help. I worked one-on-one with an excellent instructor. I so appreciate Amigos del Sol. Deborah Green

For my first trip to Oaxaca, I completely put my trust in Rogelio to set up my classes and family homestay for two weeks, and everything was perfect! Teachers were great, all classes were either one-on-one or one-on-two (despite it being the peak xmas season), and staying with a family within walking distance of the school was ideal. I'll certainly... More

What a wonderful way to be introduced to the beautiful city and exceptional people of Oaxaca. From initial email contact all the way to my arrival back home, I was treated with amazing care and attention. I made new lifelong friends and, more to the point, I went from 2nd grade to high school with my Spanish! The director, Rogelio,... More
