So glad you enjoyed your first ride so much. Torrid Elegance is an amazing mare and you were her last rider before she has her foal in early February. The vet wants her to just walk about freely but no more riders for a couple of months. He said that she is a very, very healthy 20 yr. old mare.... More

Our experience at Rancho Pitaya far exceeded our expectations. Mary Jane is quite an amazing riding instructor. We are beginners (including a 10-year-old daughter) but had been on similar rides in Peru before. Mary Jane offered hands down the best, most professional and personal instruction and riding experience! We went away with far more than just a day of fantastic... More

It's so inspiring to hear riding guests go away having had not just a satisfying experience but one that might make them what to ride more often or take some lessons to better their riding skills. My son was seven when he and I learned to ride, and it's been an activity we have shared now for many years, riding... More

I just stayed at Rancho Pitaya for a week and rode every day with Mary Jane and her wonderful horses - on the most beautiful trails. The horses are some of the finest I have seen. And in such good shape. I love them all. The trails and biospheres are full of beauty .... and history. And Mary Jane and... More

The hills around Horseback Mexico are full of little secrets. From the remains of terracing that date back to pre-hispanic times (is that right Mary Jane!?).... which are just subtle layers in the earth with a hint of stone work, to the tiny tumbling down bridges which form part of very old raised trails through the swamps which form during... Hi Gretchen, I usually respond quickly to reviews but life has been a whirlwind for the past few months. I remember well the day we rode ( Ruins to Hacienda Ride ), the rare Pochote tree was flowering. I continue to find new trails on this ride, talk about micro-worlds. Thanks again. Mary Jane More

Five of us were traveling through Oaxaca on a three week stint through Mexico, and our accommodation recommended to one of our friends - an avid rider - the riding as an enjoyable group activity. Arranging the activity was generally straightforward speaking to Mary Jane (owner). The only confusion was showing up to her hotel (previously her home) to pay... More

One of the best ideas for the short vacation in Mexico is to spend few days riding horses in the beautiful Oaxaca valley. I'm very happy that I did it and I'm very grateful to Mary-Jane for tailoring the riding programme for me. The horses were easy to ride, the pace was just right to enjoy the scenery. The weather... Sorry it has taken my this long to reply. I enjoyed the days we spent exploring Oaxaca on horseback. September is my far the greenest season dappled with the beginning of wild flowers. At the end of the rainy season the weather is coolish, in the low to mid 20 Cº but I don't think we ever got rained on?... More

Mary-Jane and Bobby were wonderful and it was a delight to ride their well schooled healthy happy horses. We had a few beginners in the group and they were really supported. A definite must do activity!

Thanks so much for coming out riding. We've made it a priority to train our horses to walk out calmly. They are very fit so it only takes the slightest cue for them to pick up the pace but walk is walk even on the way home. I hope your friends will do more riding! More

Mary Jane runs an absolutely charming ranch in gorgeous countryside. She perfectly matched horses to both myself (an experienced rider) and my friend (a complete beginner) and we both got exactly what we wanted out of the experience. The horses are wonderful, obviously extremely well cared for. The whole morning was a highlight of my trip to Oaxaca. A definite... More

Getting out into Oaxaca's unique and exotic native is, in my opinion, an absolute must for any visitor to Oaxaca. Whether on your own two feet or, even better yet, the back of a horse experience one of the world's richest and most varied biospheres! Glad to hear you enjoyed the ride! More
