On the visits, travelers meet women who are applying for micro-loans to start or expand their small businesses, from making tortillas to weaving beautiful rugs, to selling flowers in the local market. Participants hear about the women's lives and projects, and what they plan to do with their loans. At the end of the day, 100% of the fee is then used to give interest-free micro-loans to the women we visited. « less

After backpacking for over a year from Chile all the way to Mexico, Oaxaca was our second last stop before heading back home. We heard about En Via and although our funds were running dangerously low, we couldn't think of a better way to spend the last of our budget and one of our last afternoons in Mexico. The tour... This tour is a great way to make your money work to help improve the lives of women and families in the pueblos near Oaxaca, and at the same time, have an opportunity to purchase some beautifully made artesanias. Highly recommended. More

This is a great opportunity to get inspired by the work of brave hardworking women who with the money that you pay for this tour get free interest micro loans. During the tour you get to meet 6 amazing women who will introduce to their work, family and culture like there is no one else in Oaxaca. I got the... More

The tour was informative and inspiring- a total highlight of our trip! We met multiple families that have benefited from En Via's services. It was a great to be welcomed into local family homes. I bought a beautiful hand woven rug dies with natural dyes. I recommend the tour to anyone visiting Oaxaca! More

This is a terrific way to visit some of the villages outside the city of Oaxaca. Fundacion EnVia has a unique model--using sustainable tourism to fuel their microfinance activities. The money you pay for the tour (650 pesos, or about $50) is pooled to provide interest-free microloans to women in the pueblos who have no other access to fair credit.... More

My heart was touched by the hardworking, incredible women we visited on this tour. I highly recommend that you take extra money if you go on this tour. There is NO pressure to buy, but you will want to. More

It was great to participate in an activity that is helping local women and the surrounding communities. We learned a ton and the $50 goes directly to the women. Great organization. Keep up the great work. More

En Via is a foundation that provides loans to women entrepreneurs in the Oaxaca area. En Via conducts tours that offer a chance to learn more about micro-loans, see some local attractions, meet a few of the business owners and hear about how the organization has helped them. We ate at one woman's restaurant (best meal we had in Oaxaca!)... More

For a $50 donation you get a fullday trip including lunch. You get to meet local people and see how they really live. You also learn about the local customs and traditions. If you want to see something off the beaten track and give to a very worth while organization this is the tour to take. More

Lots of Oaxaca tours take you to see handcraft villages. But En Via took us to meet the women behind the handicrafts. Further, we got to help them, as our fee went towards loans that directly benefit them. Our day with them was educational- and heartwarming. I highly recommend this tour to you. Special advice: The tour includes a meal... More
