As in any place of important historic significance, El Templo de Santo Domingo leaves you breathless with its beauty. The plaza surrounding it is romantic; it takes you to another time with its convergence of modern and historic ambience. The real annoying thing about el Templo are it's ignorant visitors who use flash in their photographs to capture the perfect... More

This church has an interesting history. It was occupied by the military for years! The ornate altar painted with gold-leaf is stunning! Next door is the museum and outside, the botanical gardens. Plan a few hours for touring all three. Definitely get the audio tour if English is your language at the museum. Gorgeous! More

Not the best, but certainly one of the most spectacular churches that I have visited. The museum in the monastery annex is well worth seeing too. More

Ornate baroque, towering columns, paintings & reliefs, gilded plaster, tangled tree of saints and many personages on the ceilings, this Dominican Order church is from the 16th century. Be sure to take it in, a top sight in Oaxaca. More

Santo Domingo is a beautiful church and convent. The interior of the church is beautiful. Make sure you see both the gardens and the museum. The gardens are a beautiful, quiet break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can easily spend several hours wandering through the museum, which is full of the history and culture of Oaxaca.... More

Real gem in Mexico, barroque church and monastery built by Dominican monks in the mid 1500's. Church has been completely re-furbished and reflects luxurious details of the original construction. Should not be missed!! More
