Beautiful building, but poor displays and the recorded tour is inadequate. all in all, a disappointment.
One of the best 'regional history' museums we've been in, in South and Central America. $57 peso entrance per person. You can also get an audio guide for $50 pesos in English or $40 pesos in Spanish. If you can read Spanish there is an unbelievable amount of information on signs and boards in the museum and cards in the... More
The vastness of the space and the architecture simple and yet beautiful take your time to enjoy As expected there are local sellers outside on the plaza but they do not encroach on your space .
This is the museum located in what used to be the Convent of Santo Domingo. The museum is absolutely beautiful, mainly because the building is gorgeous, spetacularly framed views. The exhibits are interesting, and worth visiting. It is helpful to go to this museum early in you trip to Oaxaca, as it gives you a historical framework for the rest... More
I recommend making this one of your first stops while visiting Oaxaca. That way you will have a better understanding of Oaxaca's rich culture and history as you tour the city and valley. The very large gift shop has an amazing collection of books for sale. Beautiful archatecture and close to my favorite restaurants in the city. A good way... More
This museum is quite wonderful. Great exhibits in a spectacular building. We only had about 1 and 1/2 hours because of a need to catch a bus, but it was surely something I would'nt want to miss and I'd go back again to see the rest!
This is a huge museum and one could spend hours here on a hot day staying cool and interested. Just walking around and checking the scenery from all the balconies is worth the trip . 57pesos well worth this small amount. It's next to the Santo Domingo church where on the two Saturdays I was there, I saw two bridal... More
A definite must-see in Oaxaca. The museum is in the former Dominican monestary and contains artifacts arranged chronologically from 500 BC and the Monte Alban culture through Oaxacan history today. The display boards are in Spanish, so the English audio tour for 50 pesos is a definite benefit (a couple can share one unit easily as replay of tracks is... More
Don't miss a visit to this fabulous museum which is full of historical artifacts. It is over-flowing with great displays from pre-Columbian artifacts, the colonial period to modern day! It's better than many museums in the USA!
A very rich collection of pre-hispanic objects and statues... This museo is also an amazing construction ... with a splendid garden
