The Zocalo is a must for all that visit Oaxaca. The laughter of children and the music of minstrels is never ending. At night it is the place to dine at any of the surrounding restaurants. More

We went on a Monday evening before mass at the Cathedral of Oaxaca and found it just like any zocalo of a smaller Mexican city--bustling with popsicle vendors, ballon and candy sellers, "merolicos" or animated salesmen (who, in this instance, were keen to sell us the cure for diabetes) and anything in between. There weren't so many tourists when we... More

This pretty and vibrant centre of the city is spoilt by political and noisy demonstrations . Incredible , every time I go to Oaxaca there is something that spoils the experience , political demonstrations , student demonstrations , this time teacher demonstrations , hundreds blocking all the access , shouting and using microfones . Impossible to enjoy the beauty of... More

get a balloon and they ran around with the locals. There was also different entertainment(?) on 2 of the 3 evenings we were there: kids music concert and seniors dance. Great to watch More

With it's European ambiance Oaxaca's zocalo is a great place to relax at a sidewalk cafe or sit on a bench within the square and just enjoy the everyday life around you. It was my favorite place to be in Oaxaca. More

The city center is a must see. The only outdoor dining is located here, and there are always bands playing--either traditional or otherwise! Merchants sell wares here and during holidays there is always something special set up-- it's decorated with manger scenes and chrysanthemums, and this is the location of the famed radish festival on the 23rd of December. There... More

Nothing conveys the beauty and charm of Oaxaca like the town square and environs. One can happily spend much of the day here. More

The Zocalo is the perfect place to relax and kick back in Oaxaca. Shaded by many trees, you can sit and enjoy the people passing by and the street activity. Not to be missed! More
