We booked a Oaxacan cooking class and got so much more.... Oscar the host was just great...informative, patient and keen to get everyone involved. We planned our own menu with him which added to the day and got you keen for your lunch! then headed to the market to buy the ingredients followed by a cooking lesson which involved the... More

Walking around Oaxaca we spotted Casa Crespo and the sign for cooking classes. We booked for 2 days away (the next day was already full) and spend a fun 4 hours in the market and then learning to cook a number of Mexican classics - Chille Rellenos, Pumpkin Seed Mole and the most delicious chocolate ice cream (I'm making it... I always try and do a cooking class in every country I visit, and as I'd heard Oaxaca had the best food in Mexico it seemed logical to find one here. Luckily I decided to attend the one offered by Casa Crespa. The tour started at 10am when our chef, Oscar, walked us to the nearby market, explained the local... More

This is an all day, very intense class & you should know how to handle a knife & follow instructions. .Our class started with selecting the day's recipes to make then a trip to a local market where Oscar explained the array of food, including what we would use for the day's recipes. We got back to his kitchen, put... More

Took a while to get in touch with him and schedule the class. Looked like he was busy all the time with other things so not a lot of attention payed.... The chocolate class was rushed as someone was sitting and waiting for him. so we just threw ingredients, blended, etc. after we came back from molinero with our chocolate... More

I actually wanted to do a cooking class with Seasons of My Heart of La Casas de la Sabores but unfortunately their classes didnt suit my schedule so I went for Casa Crespo, even though I had some reservations after reading some lukewarm reviews on Tripadvisor. Being a cooking class junkie in countries like Bali, Malaysia and Thailand, I should... More

Oscar was busy with a food festival and expecting customers (obviously) much more important than us for lunch. So the class started late and finished early. The food we made was delicious but we were hurried through the class and rushed through the lunch with the waitress reluctant to serve us all the dishes we had made. Oscar would probably... More

Oscar, professional chef and restaurant owner, offers a very laid back and fun course. Participants get to choose the menu of the day starting with 'entradas', a beverage of the day, a soup, main dish and of course, dessert. The trip to the market is extremely informative and intriguing as Oscar will teach you about regional ingredients, even if you... More

The cooking class was one of my best experiences in Oaxaca. We had a long list of choices of what we could cook including chili sauces, different moles, drinks, appetizers, and desserts. After choosing our meal we went to the market and had a great time looking and learing about a variety of ingredients. Back at the restaurant we got... More

I love to cook and made a couple of cooking courses around the world. Oskar (the chef) is a good cook and has great recipes but he isn't talented in teaching. He doesn't care much if somebody can hear him or not. Questions are more or less not welcome. So if you are interested in recipes. Take this class. If... More
