OK, you are there so you might as well see it, but this is just another big cathedral rather than something really evocative of the religious passions and art sore alert in early Spanish Latin America. While certainly large, It really does not compare with the richness of some of the old churches of Quito, Cusco or Rio.

We took the tour around 11:30 AM to walk upstairs to the bell towers and observe when the bell ringers ring several bells before noon.

This cathedral is a remnant of the Spanish past and it is big and beautifully built. I have seen many cathedral in Europe and this one will fit right in with some of the best there. Get in there late afternoon to see the amazing sun rays shine on the crucifix where the worshipers pray around it.

This cathedral is at the same time huge and simple. It is interesting to note that one of the church tower is crooked!

The outside of this amazing Cathedral is spectacular but the inside will leave you awestruck. It is massive and ornate with splendid rock sculpture everywhere. A site to behold in the City Centre. Both beautiful and majestic, it is time well spent to walk among history and don't forget time to stop a stay a little prayer. Looking for souvenirs; just outside the gates are many street vendors ready and waiting to serve you. And they are not pushy.

My dear friend and I had a wonderful trip to Mexico City. The Cathedral was so interesting-it took 300 years to build.
