Everyone must stop by this hotel on their visit to Central Historico. You can walk through the lobby, take pictures with the door man with the giant chandeliers. But the upstairs restaurant, La Terrazo, has magnificent views of the Zocalo. We were lucky enough to get a table by the edge, (mid afternoon, right before a concert was to start),... More

A lot of historic places rest on their laurels and figure that since they are historic, they can skimp on service. Not so with the Gran Hotel! First of all, the whole place is obviously very well maintained and kept in top shape. You are greeted with a glass of champagne upon check in, and then taken to your room... More

This hotel on the Zocalo is in a great location to see a historic part of Mexico. Most people will be wowed by the architecture when they arrive, especially the beautiful Tiffany glass ceiling. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were nice. They have a classic feel to them. There is a salon at the front, and... More

Since downtown is overcrowded hotel employees will ask you if you are a guest before you enter. A beautiful art déco pen lobby with an iron cast lift. Classy look, but the service and sleeping quality are BAD. Nosiy 24 hours. Facing the Zócalo.

Between the Tiffany stained-glass ceiling, art deco elevator and colonial facade, Gran Hotel Ciudad is a feast for the eyes. And you can't beat the location, especially if you want to witness the inspiring raising of La Bandera in the zocalo across the street just after sunrise. While the location is excellent, it is getting increasing difficult to access Gran... More

Clean room and location. The Taxis that the hotel calls for you will be 4-5 Times the price of the metered rate

My friend and I stayed here for 3 night on our way to Oaxaca. We loved staying right on the Zocolo - the first night, we had a drink in the hotel's rooftop restaurant overlooking it. Very centrally located to go to Bellas Artes, Templo Mayor, etc and the Metro is right there also. Our room was large and immaculate.... More

We stayed here for two nights before moving on to Tlaxcala. The hotel is exceedingly beautiful with a gorgeous tiffany ceiling, tiffany glass elevators, an aviary in the lobby and huge rooms. I believe our room was 500 sq ft and it came with a plate of lovely chocolate dipped strawberries and apples. Free wireless and great service. We asked... More
