Mexico takes a lot of care and pride in its cultural history, but you won't know it from visiting this museum. There are a lot of displays, but not much in the way of explanation of what you're seeing. If you go, hire a guide so you're not just wandering around wondering what you're seeing and its significance to this... More

Not only is this a history museum, it's a building that has seen a lot of history. The history presented, particularly on my first visit, was as much propaganda as history. One can also the royal apartments and President Diaz's digs.

This is a great little museum that highlights the history of the castle and Mexico, more so of the former than the latter. There are nice displays of uniforms, artwork, weapons and numerous other artefacts and the museum is well laid out. I particularly liked the artwork as I find Mexico great for its art. Only covers a small portion of Mexico's history. Displays of clothing, portraits, household artifacts.

The building in which the museum is housed is impressive but sadly the exhibit doesn't live up to the setting. Some of the art portrayed is impressive and a few of the exhibits draw the eye, but much of what is on display appears arbitrary and is easily passed over.
