We left the Diego Rivera Casa museum feeling a bit let down - long on nostalgia, short on art. We were so happy to enter the Pueblo, which featured really fantastic contemporary works by important Mexican artists, as well as a good sampling of 19th & 20th century art from the region. The curation is top notch, the rooms ample,... More

Each new museum reveals a different layer of history. This does a modest, but caring, survey of the history of Guanajuato. Along with the other museums, it contributes pieces of the city's story, but only pieces.

Wonderful space filled with fascinating information about both the city of Guanajuato and the country of Mexico. Great art on display.

Totally worth a visit if only to see the gun turned into musical instrument exhibition which was eye opening. Also enjoyed the immature figuring area, Japanese toys and improving my Spanish through reading the various notes in Spanish!

My adult children suggested we visit this museum next to the main buIlding of the University of Guanajuato. From the name I expected a history museum so was pretty surprised as it ismostly contemporary art. The art is good and very unusual.

If you are walking from the Centro to say the Alhondiga, this very nice little museum is on the way and you should devote some time to it: Wonderful murals by Chavez Morado, pottery, miniatures, oils and more. The entrance fee is a very reasonable 20 pesos. Also along the Calle Positos is Diego Rivera's house, and museum, which is... More

Incredible collection of miniature toys. No need for a translator. I didn't experience my normal "museum fatigue" in this place. It was delightful.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but this museum has a great collection of folk art, including an extensive collection of miniatures, and upstairs beautiful paintings and prints, including a special exhibit on the work of the print maker Posada (think skeletons). My favourite were the oil portraits by Bustos. Also, there is a good deal offered in... More
