We visited February 15, 2009. We almost did not go the Ex Hacienda, which would have been a mistake. The grounds are considerable and well kept. The Hacienda portion itself is very well maintained and appointed perfectly to reflect the 18th century. Allocate at least two hours. A more leisurely pace is recommended. Last year we visited ex Hacienda san Gabriel de Barrera and loved it. The house and gardens are perfectly restored and maintained. It has a beautiful, haunting peacefulness about it that makes one want to linger. The colors and details of the hacienda are stunning.
