We paid a nominal tip to our wonderful guide Carlos, who gave us an English language tour of this fascinating and tranquil former 16th century Hacienda (the house itself). There is a lot of cultural history embedded in the informal tour. If you go here, use the guide. But the gardens alone are also worth the short trip and admissions... More

Loved this view into history. The gardens are lovely but learning about the working Hacienda and how they refined gold and silver was most interesting. Spies from the Catholic Church and from the Spanish royalty made sure enough got back to Spain. Tour guide made all the difference with explanatory if not scandalous stories.

As others wrote, the gardens alone are worth the visit, but it would be a pity not to visit the XVIIth century house. And if you do, go with one of the guides! we took the tour (in English), and it was both instructive and entertaining. My favourite place in the Guanajuato area. Oh, and while you're there, visit the... More

We visited with two teenage boys and went ahead and use one of the private guides, One special thing about this area is the guy just ask you to tip them at the data set price. Really enjoyed the tour the grounds are beautiful. If I had planned better I would've visited the museum Gene Byron which is also in... More

The gardens themselves were very impressive and the exhacienda/estate portion with the centuries old furniture was really neat. There was a small cafe outside with covered seating as well. Beautiful place to spend a couple hours wandering around. Note that you can only get there from the highway headed away from downtown Guanajuato...there appeared to be a back way but... More

The beautiful old house fully furnished. The Guide Carlos Who has the history and many stories. The beautiful more historically recent gardens.

The hacienda and gardens are just a 35-50 peso cab ride from downtown Guanajuato and you find a quiet oasis on the edge of town. Admission is 30 pesos per person. Our group spent over an hour walking the gardens and about 15 minutes walking through the hacienda. With a stop for water and coke swe then walked up the... More

I wish we had known about this place earlier. Its a beautiful retreat. I wish I could have had time to sit and smell the proverbial flowers... but the tour had to continue!

This is an old mining hacienda that has been converted to a home with 17 beautiful, extensive gardens. Today, it is a museum just a short taxi ride out of town. Get a tour guide to explain the history and describe the house because it is very interesting and not obvious. Take your time strolling through the many gardens. Some... More

The hacienda was formerly a place where ore was processed. It was restored several decades ago, using period furniture. The house itself is beautiful and interesting, but the gardens are gorgeous. There are actually 17 different gardens, including a Roman garden, the Queens garden, and others. Each is distinctive, with a completely different theme. Much of the garden is accessible... More
