This church is located next to Teatro Juarez and the name is Templo De San Diego De Alcala. This is not a big temple, and it doesn't have that much decorations on walls and ceiling except from the front of the temple. The walls is mostly plain white or grey, doesn't contain that much paintings or idols and the altar... More

About all I can say is what a great experience it was to see this old marvelous church. The architecture is astounding, equal to anything you would see in Spain and without an expensive trip to Europe. The church is located in the center of town so everything is easily located. Plenty of cool places to eat and drink. Lots... More

Stroll into San Diego if you're having lunch at the Jardin. It's a lovely church with an interesting history. Beside the Theater. On the weekend there are vendors selling artwork out front.

The facade is the most beautiful part of this church, so I was wondering why I went inside. However, I did visit the museum underneath, with remnants of frescoes from the former church on this site - inundated in the floods and having to be totally rebuilt at its present level when the level of the city was raised. Quirky... More

The undercroft of this church is a museum of colonial Mexico along with an art museum. The history of the building and the city are illustrated on its walls.

The estudiantinas with the white knee socks depart from this church. The church itself is a beautiful barrocial style in the historic district.

this was the first Cathedral we toured on our recent trip to Guanajuato. and I could not beleive how old it was. The details were facinating and intricate. I recommend visiting this historic place of worship. I ALSO RECOMMEND TOURING ALL THE CHURCHES IN THIS CITY AS THEY ARE WORKS OF ART. the prettiest one was across from the Mercado.
