Impressive golden altars. This is a beautiful church not to be missed. And the views of Guanajuato from the hillside are stunning. There are not a lot of places to park here, so it is best to taxi from town. The church is close by the La Valenciana mine and can be visited at the same time. Interesting history.

Similar to the other churches in Mexico built during the Spanish colonization of Mexico, this church exhibits intricate designs inside and out. With its attractive pink/reddish hue, it is so attractive and stands tall uphill. The altar is gilded in gold!

Don't think I've ever seen as much gold leaf in one place, sometimes over intricate woodcarving. Outside, a panorama of the city and old cactuses with people's names carved in them.

On the main road, to the north of Guanajuato, lies this beautiful church with ornate facade and needle spires that pierce the cerulean mountain skies. The large iglesia is impressive as well as imposing on its hillside perch. Look around you as you stand on the plaza just outside the church doors - what a vista of the hillside and... More

You can't miss this place, there is not a lot of information there about the history of the church, but do some research to learn about the value of this place. It's really incredible.

This large church is situated in Valentiana. It is very impressive from outside and is decorated with paintings inside. Nearby are old mine entrances which can be visited

Incredible interior. You can spend ages inside this church. Taxi there no problem, took bus back as no taxis available. Right beside mine.

A catherdral size church in a small town with wonderful paintings and altars. The view looking down on this church from slightly higher up the hill, with the town in the valley behind it and the mountains beyond that is simply amazing.

The 3 Golden Altars is a sight to behold! Great for flash-less pictures and for studing the architecture of the period. Make sure to take a guided tour so they explain the meanings and symbols hidden in the altars.
