Prettiest church in the city, surrounded by a lively plaza!

Having seen many of the highlights of centro Historico GDL in our first two days, we took Monday (when virtually everything besides the Catedral is closed, to venture forth on a bus in search of the Templo Expiatorio. For those with enough time, this was deemed by TA and others a must see. As we were afoot, we were obligated... More

This is by far my favorite church in Guadalajara. It is beautiful and bit different from the others as it is more like a European gothic church. I would aslo recommend checking out the plaza in front of it, as it usually has something going on, especially on weekends. On Saturday & Sunday afternoons/evening (starting around 6pm) there is a... I loved the architecture of The Expiatory Temple! While I was visiting it there was a wedding going on inside, it was beautiful. I loved the fountain in front of the Agave plant, which is used to make Tequila. A friend and I went to a restaurant in front of the Expiatory Temple and were able to enjoy the view... More

The structure as seen from outside is imposing but the inside is awe-inspiring; simple minimalist on the inside but what captures is the soaring ceiling and the stained glass windows, very different from the typical Spanish colonial churches with the entablados full of saints.

Although not as impressive as the central cathedral from the outside, the vaulted arches, the beautiful altar and the paintings were lovely. Not a bad walk from the central cathedral. The park behind the Expiatory temple is pleasant.

This is a very church with some great Architecture. I toured several Templo's in a taxis. He kept it running and new all the old church sites. Very inexpensive less than $20 with a tip to the driver

We (unfortunately) went after hours, and the main cathedral was closed. The architecture is wonderful, and I can't wait to go back and see inside. After we took a horse drawn carriage ride around town - it was very informative!

A unique spire gives this church its characteristic look while its interior is wonderfully decorated, well worth your visit close to downtown

This is a temple with a lot of history and full of architectonic details. Dont forget your camera!!!.I had the opportunity to visit it during HolyWeek and experienced some of the activities they do. The view at night is great.
