Catedral Metropolitan is located in the Centro Historico of Guadalajara. The architecture of the church is simply awesome. As a Catholic, it has the same feel as San Pietro basilica, at a smaller scale. There are 3 other churches within the immediate vicinity, but I was only able to see this church. Relics of their saints are all available for... More

Take the time to see this. It is the highlight of the city. I was told that no building is allowed to be built to be higher than the peak of this cathedral, so it can been seen from around the city. I was there on a Friday morning and amazed at the people there for service and praying. Not... More

I love Spanish colonial architecture and the is a great example of 16th century colonial cathedrals. It is not available for tourists to roam around during scheduled Masses. This city has a lot of very old churches, but this one is special.

If you are in or near Guadalajara, you owe it to yourself to stop and visit this beautiful cathedral. It's in the heart of downtown and traffic can be a bit daunting, but if you are driving there are public parking garages nearby. If not, buses and taxis will easily get you there. There's no "show" or "tour" but the... More

This is right in the heart of Guadalajara. All tourist buses pass right through it. The exterior is beautiful, and the interior is grandiose. Don't forget to check behind the main altar so you can see the tombs.

Take a moment to sit in the square and enjoy the bells. Take a walk through the interior to enjoy the stained glass and pay a visit to the mummy St. Innocentcia.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Guadalajara is a landmark of this city. It is not the most spectaular cathedral in Mexico, but anyway it is worth a visit. The interior of the cathedral is a bit austere in comparison with its exterior. There is a small museum in one of the annexes to the cathedral where religious art is displayed. The... More
